Description

Discover the perfect harmony of durability and vibrant tone with the Elixir Nanoweb Phosphor Bronze acoustic guitar strings. Crafted for musicians who demand longevity without sacrificing sound quality, these strings feature a patented full-string coating that outlasts most others in the market. The ultra-thin Nanoweb coating doesn’t just protect the outer surface; it shields the entire string, including the gaps between windings, from tone-deadening buildup, ensuring your music remains crisp and clear.

Designed with a phosphor bronze wrap wire, these strings offer a rich, full-bodied tone with sparkling high-end clarity, making them an ideal choice for both studio sessions and live performances. The medium gauge (.013-.056) provides a robust feel, perfect for players seeking a dynamic balance between warmth and brightness, especially on darker-toned guitars like those made from mahogany or sapele.

With the added benefit of Anti-Rust Plating on the plain steel strings, the Elixir Nanoweb strings promise extended playtime, keeping your guitar sounding fresh and vibrant for longer stretches between changes. Experience the smooth, traditionally textured feel of uncoated strings, while enjoying the extended life of coated ones. Perfect for both seasoned professionals and passionate amateurs, these strings are a reliable companion for any musical journey.

Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Elixir Nanoweb Phosphor Bronze (Medium: .013-.056).

Features and functionality

  • Elixir Nanoweb strings have a special coating that reduces string noise and enhances longevity, making them ideal for players who prioritize smooth playability and durability.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • It's crucial to ensure your guitar is set up to handle medium gauge (.013-.056) strings; improper tension management can damage the neck, especially if not a dreadnought.

    Source
  • Players recommend trying a lighter gauge than .013s if experiencing difficulty, as the change in tension can significantly enhance playability without compromising volume too much.

    Source
  • It's advised to have a professional adjust the truss rod and action height, particularly on cheaper acoustics, for improved playability and reduced string tension.

    Source

Comparisons

  • Although Martin SPs and D'Addario strings may offer a more appealing initial tone, Elixir's longevity is favored by those not changing strings frequently, unlike touring musicians.

    Source
  • Some players find Elixir Nanoweb strings too punchy on warm, resonant guitars like the Martin HD-28, suggesting alternatives like D'Addario Nickel Bronze for a balanced tone.

    Source
  • Martin Lifespan 2.0 strings are often considered more mellow than Elixirs, making them a preferred choice for players seeking a softer sound.

    Source
  • On certain guitars, the volume difference between .012s and .013s is minimal, highlighting the importance of testing different gauges to find personal preference.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • Owners using alternate tunings, like open D, find Elixir phosphor bronze strings particularly well-suited due to their enduring tone and stability under varied tension.

    Source
  • For fingerpickers, lighter strings like .12s can be more suitable on the HD-28, as .13s may feel too thick for detailed fingerstyle play.

    Source
  • Some players prefer tuning down half a step with medium gauge strings to ease tension, which can be beneficial for beginners developing finger strength.

    Source

User experience

  • Owners often mention needing to adapt their playing style when switching from smaller guitars to dreadnoughts due to increased volume and dynamic range.

    Source
  • Some players report that D'Addario phosphor bronze strings offer durability and a consistent sound, making them a reliable choice for long-term use on the HD-28.

    Source
  • Beginners are encouraged to start with light or extra light strings and progress to heavier gauges as they build hand strength and calluses.

Rich Piano-like strings that last longer than others

Great for adding detail to a darker guitar. Feel good. Last a long time. I like to play on them for a few days before recording with them though, they have a bright sheen when first put on. Overall, they are awesome. I recommend people treat themselves to a set.

Elixir Nanoweb Phosphor Bronze (Medium: .013-.056)

These are my favourite strings to use, due to their great tone and also because of the long lasting coat on them that keeps the strings from getting sticky and losing their sound.
