Review: Apple OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard | WIRED

wired.com

Snow Leopard is a forward-thinking OS that enhances performance and memory management, making it a worthy upgrade at just $30. The easy installation and subtle interface tweaks are welcome, though the lack of immediate, noticeable speed improvements and some compatibility issues with third-party apps are drawbacks. While many apps haven't yet harnessed its 64-bit capabilities, Snow Leopard sets the stage for future advancements with features like Grand Central Dispatch and Open CL. It may not be life-changing now, but it's a smart buy for Mac users planning for tomorrow's tech landscape.

Apple Mac OS X 10.6.3 Snow Leopard review: Apple Mac OS X 10.6.3 Snow Leopard - CNET

cnet.com

Snow Leopard is a smart, $29 upgrade for Intel Mac users, offering interface enhancements, Exchange support, and a refined QuickTime X. While it leaves PowerPC users behind and doesn't drastically boost application performance, its numerous technological improvements and ease of use make it a worthwhile investment. However, it feels more like a refined service pack than a full overhaul.

Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard: the Ars Technica review - Ars Technica

arstechnica.com

Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard presents a mixed bag for users and developers. While it offers improved performance and a lower price point, it lacks the usual array of new features, focusing instead on under-the-hood enhancements like better support for multi-core processors and a leaner installation footprint. Its main selling point, integration with Microsoft Exchange, might be a boon for some, but it requires the latest server version, limiting its reach. For developers, Snow Leopard provides robust tools for optimizing application performance. Overall, it's a solid, if unspectacular, upgrade that prioritizes refinement over innovation.
