Rekordbox 5.0 Software Review - Digital DJ Tips

digitaldjtips.com

Rekordbox 5.0 shines as an essential update for Pioneer DJ's software, offering a sleek, clutter-free interface and robust Performance mode features that cater to both controllerists and scratch DJs. With an improved graphical engine and enhanced library management, it's tailored for those spinning with CDJs or Rekordbox-compatible controllers. However, minor bugs persist, such as performance pad issues with the DJM-S9. Despite this, Pioneer DJ's prompt updates are reassuring. Overall, if you haven't tried Rekordbox DJ yet, now is an ideal time to dive in.

Rekordbox 5: Is It Faster? Better? Stronger? - DJ TechTools

djtechtools.com

Pioneer DJ Rekordbox 5 upgrades with a sleek, dark interface and a snappy KORETECH engine, enhancing its utility as a central DJ hub. While the UI overhaul is commendable, preferences remain confusing and unchanged. Track analysis sees minor slowdowns but improves beat detection. New features like Key Sync and USB playlist imports add value, though they raise sharing concerns. Despite some CPU hogging reports, it's a worthy rival to Serato and Virtual DJ, but Traktor users might feel left behind. Overall, Rekordbox 5 impresses with its enhancements, though quirks like small fonts persist.

Seamless integration with Pioneer hardware

Having been a Serato Scratch Live user for many years I was unfortunately disappointed with the next generation Serato DJ software finding it unreliable, unresponsive and generally too busy with the focus being developing new 'trick' features at the cost of keeping the core program stable. With my 'audio only' shows already being organised in the Rekordbox Export mode, I decided to give the new Rekordbox DJ Performance mode a try and haven't looked back. The software integrates perfectly with whichever Pioneer DJ equipment you connect it to, giving a seamless experience. From the very simple audio routing to the mixer/soundcard to the responsive mapping of the player/controller functions to their software counterparts, the software performs in an intuitive way that allows you to focus more on the performance and less on wrestling on-screen buttons and menus. I now solely use Rekordbox for all performances utilising the Rekordbox Video plugin for A/V shows.
