Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Rane TTM 57SL Mixer.

Software and compatibility

  • The Rane TTM 57SL doesn't work with Serato DJ Pro and lacks drivers for macOS Catalina, Big Sur, and M1 Macs, limiting its use with newer operating systems.

    Source
  • Scratch Live 2.5 is stable with the TTM 57SL, but firmware updates might require installing earlier versions of Scratch Live first.

    Source
  • Scratch Live can run up to macOS 10.14, but later versions need workarounds like disabling System Integrity Protection (csrutil).

    Source
  • Scratch Live runs smoothly on Windows 11, countering concerns about needing outdated systems for compatibility.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • The original Rane TTM 57SL has built-in effects that work without Serato, offering unique capabilities that aren't available on the TTM 56S.

    Source
  • The TTM 57SL allows activation of software FX and cue points directly through built-in buttons, maintaining a tactile workflow for DVS DJs.

    Source
  • There is a switch that reverses fader direction, which can sometimes malfunction, causing unexpected fader action.

    Source

Build quality

  • The crossfader on the TTM 57SL can feel heavier than the upfaders, but using Deoxit F100 lube can improve its performance.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • Users suggest using faders from the TTM 56S in the TTM 57MK2 for improved durability, as the stock faders in the MK2 are considered fragile.

    Source
  • Deoxit lubricant enhances the performance of the Rane magnetic faders, making them smoother for scratching.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • Purchasing a Rane TTM 57SL in good condition for $300 or less is considered a good deal, especially given its robust build and unique features.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • Despite discontinued support, Scratch Live remains a practical tool for reducing vinyl crate loads while preserving a vinyl-style workflow.

    Source
  • The TTM 57SL may not be ideal for purely analog setups due to its digital-centric features and design.

    Source

Comparisons

  • The TTM 57SL, unlike newer models, was designed with built-in DVS capability, negating the need for additional interfaces or software for Scratch Live.

    Source

Setup and maintenance

  • Swapping faders resolved channel issues, but finding a replacement fader with the correct pin configuration remains a challenge.

    Source
  • Adjusting the line fader curve to the middle may smooth out unintended gain-like behavior in fader operation.

Rane TTM 57SL Review - InSync

sweetwater.com

The Rane TTM 57SL is a standout for serious DJs, praised for its ease of setup and integration with Serato Scratch Live. Magnetic faders earn high marks for their smooth operation, enhancing the mixing experience. Assignable controls keep DJs focused on performance rather than distractions. While transitioning from vinyl to digital can be daunting, this mixer instills confidence with its reliable performance. However, potential buyers should be aware that its feature set is tailored specifically for digital DJs using Scratch Live. Overall, a strong choice for those embracing digital DJing with a proven, high-quality mixer.

Rane is an epic company

I have put this mixer through way more than it can handle. The hard plastic click buttons are junk (which is why they changed them to soft buttons) I've had better faders that last longer, but they were nice and smooth fresh out the box many many years ago.... But I still love you Rane
