  • Wurlitzers are known for frequent maintenance issues, including detuned tines and mechanical noise, requiring periodic servicing to maintain optimal performance.

    Source
  • It's noted that dust in the harp can cause loud pops and crackles, a common issue requiring periodic cleaning for optimal sound.

    Source
  • Users recommend checking for worn felts, as over 3,200 parts in the keys and action may need lubrication or adjustment for consistency.

Use cases and applications

  • While Wurlitzers offer a distinct feel and sound, some users opt for digital alternatives like Nords for live performances due to their lighter weight and reliability.

    Source

Software and compatibility

  • Some users find that VSTs and digital emulations can achieve up to 99.99% of the Wurlitzer's sound, though they lack the tactile feel of the real instrument.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • The original power cord can be cumbersome; an IEC power socket upgrade is advised for convenience, with later 200A models often having this feature already.

The Real Deal!

I love my Wurlitzer 200, but the 200A has a much more defined tone. The amp is much quieter and there isn't as much hum, and the tone comes through a bit brighter than the 200. I personally think the 200A has bit nicer of a vibrato, but that's just me!
