I heard on a Premier Guitar video that Metallica has like 30 of them.

Since when does a band like Metallica need an amp system that simulates amplifiers they already have?

I just realised that maybe they're trying to capture their own sound, but that doesn't excuse the fact that they have 30 of those things for two guitarists and a bassist that have amplifiers that I would trust my life with.

Did some research. VOS is Vintage Original Spec, fairly new, and he's the Oasis guitarist.

Definitely just a regular Les Paul Custom that happens to have P90's. Let me just tweak that description.

I noticed that if you edit a submission and give your reason, it will sometimes automatically change the text to the sample text, like instead of,

Added a second source in the submission notes.

it becomes:

Revised submission notes.

OK, after a ton of work, I have managed to get through the entire Complaints thread and commented on a whole bunch of items that were incorrect or revised notes and such.

I might have missed some stuff so please help if you can.

EDIT: Another thing, I believe that now that we can edit submissions, we can start adding more sources. Take the following submission. Originally, it was just a photo with the interview source by Tone Report. Now that Premier Guitar has come in and interviewed Gary's tech, there's a few more interesting details that can be added to the submission, making it look more wholesome and complete.

I'm sorry, but I need to clarify whether you were complimenting or insulting the SansAmp, because the latter seems unlikely given how good a SansAmp is.

You did wrong, mate. You need to get an expensive amplifier, and THEN an expensive guitar. The other way around is like trying to make a chandelier look good in a decrepit little apartment. No matter how nice that chandelier is, the apartment is still disgusting and old.

My suggestion? Invest in a better amp. Don't ask which, I wouldn't know. But I've tried getting artist tones out of practise amplifiers and believe me, It's damn near impossible. Especially a metal sound, practise amps usually become too shrill and the sound ends up terrible.

Here's what gchiaren said recently in another thread.

We just released some new tools around this! Underneath every submission you should see an "EDIT THIS SUBMISSION" button, which allows you to make edits. It's a lot more like a Wiki this way, where changes can be kept track of as submissions (hopefully) improve over time. Unfortunately, only admins can change out items while this is still in Beta... If you want to get an admin's attention in a submission's comment thread, you can always @-mention them!

We'll be working on full item edit-ability soon. There's a tool to merge duplicates but it's kind of hidden. You can report a duplicate item using here: http://equipboard.com/duplicate_items/new

EDIT: Now that I have used it, maybe there should be a checkbox in there Needs Improvement category that says something like "Miscellaneous Item", meaning an item that has no music value to the artist. Like SPAM, or iced tea.

Also, that Edit Submission button makes me nervous, hopefully people won't abuse. Probably should make a comment on the submission before you start editing.

I had to listen to it a few times. The first section of the intro (first four chords) is just one guitar and drums. The next section (arpeggio thingy) is of course just one guitar.

Next section, when vocals come in, listen closely. It's actually just two guitar tracks. One is the arpeggio continued, and the other is the swells.

Live, he does a pretty good job. I can agree he may be using a Callisto (not to mention the Moog Ring Modulator), but why the Pitch Fork? It doesn't sound likely.

Anyone know how Omar gets the sound at the intro as well as those swells? I already know he he had an excess of pedals which, as he has stated now, was really unnecessary.

His booking fees are $150-$200k+ per show and he does a lot of shows. A quick search on Google shows he made $28MM in 2014.

Dude ... I just watched the clip for fun ... I think you misunderstood what he is saying. Just before the clip starts (rewind a sec) he says "oh wait actually before that happens ... one side goes to the pedals and the amp, the other goes to the compressor" dude he is splitting the signal BEFORE it gets distorted and in his pedal chain. He's splitting it straight out of his guitar.

That's how it sounds to me, anyway. And it makes way more sense.

The volume knob is on the right side, set to 1200, so that should mean the volume will remain the same as before (given that the sustain is really high).

There's also the DI Box to consider, but I don't think they function to remove dirt from a signal.

You know what I just noticed? The EB logo that you see in your tab sometimes has a white background, and other times it has a black background.

Just thought I might point that out.

Yup, I've seen a few teles with such differences, even in aesthetics (My friend in the band has some telecaster with a funky pickguard colour and and slightly darker seafoam-green body) and they don't come up on the Fender website. If it's a Custom Shop, I think it would be appropriate to name it as so. Avicii's acoustic may have either been made specifically for him, or that was a limited run.

Either way, I suggest finding more information regarding Avicii and his guitar rather than the identity itself.

To be honest, this interview thing made no sense to me. I didn't understand the point of it, and it left wondering why Comedy Central did that.
