Opinion about the Danelectro DC59
Never tried one. Looked at one, thought it was the ugliest thing ever to be created.
Then again, I like .strandberg* guitars, so I guess that's hypocritical.

Favorite bassist? and most overrated band?
Same happened to me in high school, except they all listened to that happy-ass electronic dance music and diluted rap music. Not trying to be elitist here, but I truly hate that stuff.
Anyways, I don't usually hear a lot of bassists, but here's a basic, probably terrible list:
Miyoko Nakamura (Ling Tosite Sigure)
Mike Kerr (Royal Blood)
Water Ghoul (Ghost)
Cliff Burton (Metallica)
And... that's it. Wow, Probably should listen to more music.
Most overated band? Nickelback, Limp Bizkit, Skillet, etc. etc. etc.

I am probably just cranky because my son seems to be coming down with a cold and his birthday is the end of the week...
Sorry to hear that, I hope he gets better.
Speaking of tube amps, I have in the back of my mind to make my on workshop in the back of the house for my mods on the guitar, but I tell myself I must get a tiny amp with a great clean sound.
Wait... why would you get a tube amp and speaker cab for home use? That's already WAY too loud, you'll piss off your neighbours with a cabinet. perhaps you should settle for a Vox Pathfinder? It has its own Treble and Bass knobs with overdrive. It's the perfect practise amp unless you want to use tale- I mean effects pedals.
10yover 10 years ago
used the regular H9 and H9 core are only like 250 to 300 in US dollars...
My wallet is sobbing, it's never heard of a $300 pedal. I personally have, but that little thing just seems so unlikely. How do you even change presets? There's no stomp on it!

To be honest, you're almost right. Most of Omar's works involve him just playing simplistic riffs and such, but his expertise is knowing how to use pedals (talent boxes if you will) effectively. Hell, that part I just showed, those parts can only be played with all that delay and such because sometimes, a clean or distorted sound just isn't enough.
Oh, yes. Mars Volta. And yes, real name. Sorry, forgot to answer.

That distorted, super cool sound that sounds so amazing bad-ass, I can't get over it!
Luckily, we have a full overview of Omar Rodríguez-López's effects for the whole album.

Hey, what's all this hype with the Jazz Chorus? i keep hearing about it. First, I see James Hetfield has a few, and suddenly Matt Bellamy has one for the new album?
I'm confused... I still remember when you told me JCs can't handle distortion well.

His review on the ski mask got up-voted once. Strange... you only get +1 for an up-vote. That is 115 IQ, leaving one more unaccounted for.
I don't know. From my limited knowledge (read zero) of fishing, this seems to be a legitimate overview of the gear used by this guy to fish. are there any official rules about non-music pros?
It's a basic nuisance. EquipBoard started out as a sort of archive site, and ended as an archive site. The only difference is that it's focused entirely on musicians. It would be like posting an article on Ultimate-Guitar.com about fishing. Even the admins there have a limit to what is guitar-related and what isn't.
Personally, if I were a mod here (or administratour, whichever applies), i'd take those pages down because they have no place here.

Same here, I've been to a few other forums (including guitar-unrelated forums) and I have to say that this has been the best. Some can be quite viscous for the purpose of... actually, now that I think about it, those people just weren't nice to begin with. Very eccentric in a bad way too.
If I haven't said before, It's probably the lack of people. Everyone's a bit more tight-knit. I'm here to stay.
I kinda hope someone brings out the Gearslutz 5-year member award and platers EquipBoard's name on it :D

I hear a light drive, phaser, and a very quiet slapback delay. That's all I know.
I see the band page is empty of gear. You should probably do your research before hand so you can record what equipment they use so we can answer your question better.

coughGlenn FrickerCough
This guy pisses me off. He knows so much, and can impart so much gear knowledge, but he often wastes it on flaming others. We get it, your running gags on stupid bassists and drummers was funny, but it gets old. We get it, you hate Christians because the few you've met haven't been very nice. We get it, some people can wear their arse as a hat, but seriously, I like you better when you get serious and tell us something worthwhile. I especially liked his series on getting your band ready for a love show, even if he ripped a few bands, but it made sense.
10yover 10 years ago
Based on my own research over the past year, this is a near impossible question to answer. To know what gear a person uses may turn up, but what pedals they use in a specific song means to tune in your ear while keeping in mind what pedals an artist uses.
Try watching some live shows, maybe you can get a glimpse of the guitarist's board.

Well, I mean in terms of diction. >
the word you are looking for is 'syntax,' diction is related but does not mean what you think it means.... I am not trying to be a dick, just saving you embarrassment if you are in a conversation with someone more combative than myself in future.
No worries, I take corrections seriously.

Well, I mean in terms of diction. I'll probably want to get myself a pocket dictionary because reading classic authour can be difficult at times.
They have the five great dialogues including Apology at my local library. Time to take a walk.

My son has seen Tom and Jerry with my ex-wife now. I have never watched it with him, but we have watched some other, less violent classics together like Rocky and Bullwinkle. He is particularly fond of the metal munching moon mice.
read Plato and Aristotle and take it from there
I have a copy of some of Plato's works (I think it was conversations with strangers or that sort), but a friend of mind borrowed it. Aristotle's here, though. I see the Athenian Constitution and Politics. Everything else is either metaphysics or on animals... very strange, never thought of Aristotle as the kind of man who'd write on animals of all things.
But damn, these books are dense.

I believe St Paul was quite clear that all you need to honor god is to believe and pray and that all you need to make a congregation is a pair of devout Christians
Pretty much sums up most basic Christian beliefs today.
But then you need to make sure you don't go over the top. Down South there's a church a friend of mine went to once, called Christchurch Bristol, and as much as they put their heart, and soul into worship, having a full set pf brass, strings, and all sorts, as well as the ususal Guitar, Bass, Keyboards and Drums, is a bit mad Ted. If you're spending more time orchestrating, and working on the music than the worship you need to rethink what's going on.
Understandable. Around our parts, most Christian musicians are either rockstars with no sense of worship, people who do worship but spend no time practising, and people who do both and enjoy playing well and still worship.
our area has a lot of rockstars... no idea why. That's what i've been hearing a lot.

(please research the Gracchi, Marius and Sulla as well as Machiavelli's thoughts on Roman agrarian reform even though they run counter to my own).
Anything else? I'm an avid reader, but I haven't really delved much into political structure and philosophy.
In the words of the Fat Controller in the Tomica Thomas and Friends fan videos.... "I HAVE SPOKEN!"
Out of curiosity, have you shown your son any of those old-school cartoons from Boomerang, like Tom and Jerry and that lot? Those were good shows.

Of course, I feel like an arse, but I don't know why. I guess that was the wrong question to ask?
Anyways, I replied with an apology, and I was about to go, but he revised the submission and reset all the grammar I fixed. It's a mess again. I want to fix it, but I don't want him to come back and restart this feud. I want to say I don't care if he's using English as a second language, but I do care if It's his first because that makes just makes him an asshat for not using basic grammar rules you learned from birth to the internet.

Complaints, Concerns, Errors, Suggestions, and Ideas!
Have you considered that many of EB's members do not speak English as their first language?
Yes, I have. However, this is not just dealing with EquipBoard members, but rather English speakers (or language that uses these types of letters such as Spanish) as a whole. EquipBoard... I want to get mad, but I can't. Though I'm trusting that those who are born with English as their second language are right idiots for not having carrying elementary grammatical knowledge onto the internet.
Either way, I have no problem become internally furious at people's grammar problems because I know a good majority are too damn lazy for their own good.
I for one am posting from a phone more than half the time.
Respect... Posting on a phone is a skill.
Why is it some people can't think of an interesting synonym for "simple" when making forum posts?
It's a common word to use. Most others are too forceful... perhaps "uncomplicated"?

What is it about people completely losing all intellectual ability to write short, simple words with simple grammatical correctness when they lay their hands on a keyboard?
10yover 10 years ago
You're referring to Matthew 19:21, which basically said perfection lies in those who give away their possessions to the poor and follow Jesus.
Personally, I think that that was a simpler time. It would've been easier to do so judging by the miracles he conducted, like with the bread and fish. But now, things are different. Jesus is not around to follow, and miracles don't happen the same way. We all do wrong, and because of that, perfection is impossible.
I'm not an expert in the field, I just spill out what I know so far and what I believe. After all, part of being a Christian is interpretation. Probably why Muslim extremists exist, why the Crusades occur, why Thérèse of Lisieux lives the way she does, etc.
An now, a short tangent point: Don't paste a name on all Christains because not all are the same!
Rant over.
10yover 10 years ago
Speaking of, I thought about this as well. The thing with our band is that we're all pretty low budget and the church puts its money in different areas, music not being too much of a priority as it's OK now. Our tech knows we have to run direct for lack of good amps, so he has this virtual amp thing on his computer that he runs it through.]
I figure, if I have my pedals running through that, maybe I'm good for now until I have the money for a good amp?
10yover 10 years ago
Wrong one, PT-1 is the new version. This is the one I have:
At the corners, there is a little seam that can pull apart to reveal the insider where the padding separate the board from the case itself. It was coming apart, so I superglued it. I know, my explanation may seem vague, but that's the only way I can describe it. When I got it, the corners had been duct taped to stay together.
10yover 10 years ago
I remember this! I was going to go through making my own pedalboard... but then I found a Pedaltrain 1 with flight case at the Hollywood Guitar Centre for $40, albeit the case wasn't the new fancy tour case, and the it was falling apart so I had to superglue it together, but I couldn't be more happy the day I found such a deal.
Wow, that was one whole sentence. I bet that's a run-off.
10yover 10 years ago
You are right.
I'd continue this conversation but I must leave to college. Enjoy yourselves!
10yover 10 years ago
Maybe not for you, but in my terms, that's pretty simplistic.
Come to think of it, John 5's board had to be the smallest I've heard of that has different sounds. For reference, he has a wah that he uses for ONE song, a Super Overdrive, a Super Chorus, and an Noise Suppressor. This was back in 2013.
10yover 10 years ago
You're into spartan boards, eh? Check out this guy's pedals, bare essentials plus a rack-mounted reverb. His sound is pretty damn amazing, but it's not for everyone.
10yover 10 years ago
I gotta tell ya, I have done the pedal quest on and off for years and its a pain in the neck with very little gratification overall.... if the DS1 works for you then stick with that and stop... get a chorus or flange, maybe a phaser.... if you like delay find a delay unit you dig.... wire it up and quit so you can focus on playing.... whenever I go on the pedal quest I wind up taking stuff off and switching stuff out at rehearsals until there is very little left come gig night... I don't think that's just me, lots of other guys have the same experience... the massive pedalboard players are thinner on the ground than you would think
That maybe be you, but perhaps you should meet a younger Omar Rodriguez Lopez... Man's a legend, had three boards for the first few The Mars Volta albums before he downsized.
Honestly, pedal quest is not for everybody, but I've found I enjoy it. The pedals I have now are good enough to work with, but everytime I find something else, It's a matter of trial and error. Sure, if something you found sounds good enough, it should stay, but I always consider the fact that there are pedals out there that might interest me more.
At the moment, though, I figured that the Blackstar HT Dual has the worst distortion ever. It's depressing because a Metal Zone actual sounds so much better when tuned right. The boost though... lovely.
10yover 10 years ago
By the way, now that I think about it, I had been considering Boss' BCB series, especially the 60 model. Very sleek, plenty of space, would definitely use for an acoustic pedalboard.
10yover 10 years ago
Pedaltrain because they're like Mozilla Firefox: so many add-ons to put on, just a bit of effort.

Will my vote make a difference in major elections if I live in a state which always votes one way? Isn't the fight all about the ''swing states''?
Technically, no. But socially, yes. I can't remember all the details, but I remember learning this stuff in an American Government course. The problem with Americans now is that they don't think they're votes matter which causes people to either stop voting or vote blind (term was something like straight ballot).
I'm saying a single vote against an overwhelming majority will not matter, but the thing is you represent as well an overwhelming majority that has given up.
Yes, It's argumentative, but in the traditional sense (opposing views, not screaming and interrupting)
EDIT: Voter Apathy, that's the term I'm referring to.
10yover 10 years ago
So, I noticed some delays and reverbs will continue to affect the sound before dying out, while others immediately cut as soon as the pedal is shut off.
What exactly causes this?
