OK, but I said positions 3 and 5. I'll keep that in mind though, thank you.

Your question was just as vague, but sorry anyways.

Complaints, Concerns, Errors, Suggestions, and Ideas!

SORRY! My first inclination was to post to the individual members HOWEVER after deciding to check with Equipboard on the forums I was told by narcist to post to the band's page.

"For bands, do NOT add the band itself, just the members. Add gear to individual bands"

Seemed a little funny to me but I went with it. But since seeing your correction I will never do that again. Consequently, before seeing that I posted a LOT of gear on the Bad Suns' page. I'm willing to move it all over to the individual band members.

Again, I apologize for incurring anyone's wrath with my gaff.

I just noticed this now, and i think you misunderstood, I should have been more specific. Normal rock bands have members, add those members and not the band name to the site. If, however, a band is a one-man, you may have to judge carefully whether to add the name of the individual or rather just the artist name itself.

Example: Everyone knows Deadmau5 as the producer of house music, so perhaps it is better to add his artist name rather than his real name: Joel Zimmerman.

Install strap button on my acoustic. It only as one that plugs in, and the other is a flimsy neck strap thing that can't hold a strap for its life.

Merging Duplicate Guitars

We could just... you know... kill them all when it happens though.

Murde- I mean banning them from the site is a fantastic idea!

Merging Duplicate Guitars

It's feels good when the process is done, though. At least people won't use duplicate submissions now.

Merging Duplicate Guitars

I know this is necroing in universal forum rules but I feel the need to reply. Just as a suggestion that I'm utilising, anybody that finds a duplicate should put the word "(Duplicate)" after the item name. For example, here's the original:

http://equipboard.com/items/fender-standard-jazzmaster-hh-electric-guitar

Now here are the duplicates:

http://equipboard.com/items/fender-standard-jazzmaster-hh-duplicate

http://equipboard.com/items/fender-standard-jazzmaster-hh-electric-guitar-olympic-white-duplicate

Next, you go here and report the duplicate. This way, anybody who happens to find a duplicate knows that it is wrong and may find the original.

What is this even?

http://equipboard.com/items/focusrite

Somebody please help me, I just saw this and I'm struggling to understand why this is here. Isn't Focusrite a company? They sell a bunch of audio interfaces and such. Am I mistaken, is this also a technical product?

Do demo videos count as an artist using gear?

From what I see, those Dinky's and cheap RG's are blank portraits waiting for a painting.

I'd probably torch a black one and put some EMG's with an extra Afterburner...

Do demo videos count as an artist using gear?

Ah, yes, the Jackson DINKY. Reminds me a bit of those cheap RG guitars along with the MikRo.

Ok this is hilarious

OK, but seriously that was one midfucking plot twist...

By the way, hiding in the cabinet of a Marshall stack, genius.

10yover 10 years ago

Ok this is hilarious

I noticed that one of the tubes was not glowing as bright as the other three.

Unless the powertubes are a different colour, there is no problem, this is simply just how bright they normally are and they may very at times.

How does a compressor clean a dirty signal?

I all gear I've seen, volume knobs are set to either noon or somewhere below to where volume exceeds the original signal. It would make somewhat sense if I were right, but even if I were wrong, then you would be wrong in saying that the compressor is lowering volume.

10yover 10 years ago

How does a compressor clean a dirty signal?

Problem is, the volume knob on the pedal is on the right pointing at noon.

That's the same amount of sound coming out except with more sustain.

Guitar Pedalboard Design

Just to add, JHS sells a buffered splitter, so I always though that if you have a lot of pedals, you put the buffer after distortion and modulation and before delays and reverb.

10yover 10 years ago

Guitar Pedalboard Design

Just saw this. Anybody understand exactly what the technical purpose of a buffer is? I have a friend who has one and he just put it the beginning of his board just after the guitar. I'm here thinking, "I think buffer should clean a signal, so why put it immediately after the guitar if that signal is already clean to begin with?"

Make sure to mark accordingly on the submission page. They were all marked as correct.

Complaints, Concerns, Errors, Suggestions, and Ideas!

If this were a thing, I'd have been rich with IQ.

By the way, I want to see the older revisions, kinda like how Wikipedia does. That way I can look at a page and think, "That revision was made for a reason" instead of "The hell? Why does this revision look worse than what the original might have been?".

10yover 10 years ago

Who to contact for wrong submissions?

Here: http://equipboard.com/about/contact

Or, make a forum post to which a mod might arrive shortly.

The best way is to find the submission on his page and press "More". Scroll down untill you see the submission quality and under it, rate the submission as "Needs Improvement" from the drop-down menu. Give a reason and leave a comment.

Do record awards count as gear?

I've seen those things popping about a few times. Haven't paid mind to it.

Boom's right, It's not gear, and that is pretty much junk for this site. It's as useful as the My Guitars submission or a Nike submission.

10yover 10 years ago

Do demo videos count as an artist using gear?

In case anybodies wondering, I'm the one denying these submissions. When I or anybody I know go on Equipboard, It's to see what gear an artist used in order to get the tone in a live or recorded song/audio whatever. Those demo videos are just product endorsements and if you guys want to accept them as submissions, fine.

But my 2 cents on the subject is discrimination between items that make up an artists sound and items an artist endorses because they were paid to or they recommend. But leaving them as regular submissions leads to something like the following effects pedal page. He has 31 effects in total and there's no way I or any commoner who comes and goes is going to comb through each and every pedal to find which one was on his pedalboard and which one he just mentioned offhandedly.

Case in point

In this video where Vai discusses perfect pedal order, he plays through the OD1X at 5:17, and mentions how he likes to run overdrive into a distorted amplifier.

OK, that would normally be just a good description that may need meat should another source present itself. But this is a demonstration where Steve Vai is demoing stock Boss pedals. That #Product Endorsement thing should be lined up on the top if you guys want to accept those submissions so people can see it easily. That way we can all differentiate a pedal on Vai's board and an endorsement.

Now excuse me, I have a flu to get over.

How to get this sound? - Post here to get ideas on how your favourite band gets their sound.

That's either a synthesizer keyboard or a synth board. Think Something like the Roland GR-55. Actually tracking that tone would be incredibly difficult if you're taking into account the type of synth, I have no idea. I've never used a synth.

You're talking about about Nick Valensi.

He must have been added to the site pretty early because there are no descriptions for any of the gear he has (save a pair of headphones and a hollow-body Epiphone.

OK, one more, this one is a little bit more specific:

https://youtu.be/7uF_c1AosKU?t=47s

Lead guitarist and singer is Toru Kitajima. He's got this amazing phase shifting sound that I want to recreate but I'm not at all familiar with phaser pedals.

Any advice?

I'm pretty sure It's an effect added afterwards, and probably not a guitar, but if it could be replicated on a guitar, that would be awesome.

Somehow, I think it might be someone with lots of reverb and doing bends with an eBow.

Anyone able to replicate replicate that weird humming sound in the background? I heard it in Little talks too and I really want to do it, but I can't seem to.

10yover 10 years ago

How to get this sound? - Post here to get ideas on how your favourite band gets their sound.

Well, I have a somewhat limited knowledge of the subject, but here goes.

Pickups on a good guitar can capture a sound signal quite nicely, and the pedals can enhance that sound. However, you need audible sound, so the signal needs to be converted. Well, a well made speaker will convert the signal as it is and amplify the sound.

Because you have a practise amp, it's not converting the signal well, and overdrive will really distort the converted signal pretty badly.

If you think vice-versa, then an initially terrible signal on a guitar can be solved by better effects pedals and a dedicated amp with an EQ that solves bad signals. This is why when you go on YouTube and see people demoing entry-level guitars through Vox AC-30s and such, they still sound very good.

I had a stable of vintage amps from fenders to marshalls and I sounded great all the time.

Complaints, Concerns, Errors, Suggestions, and Ideas!

http://equipboard.com/items/openmpt If possible, this should be renamed to "ModPlug Tracker / OpenMPT", since ModPlug Tracker (MPT) and OpenMPT are practically the same software. You could also replace the current icon by a nicer screenshot from https://openmpt.org/screenshots

http://equipboard.com/items/openmpt-modplug-tracker

Fixed :D

Except for the photo, can't do that.

http://equipboard.com/items/fender-telecaster-thinline-electric-guitar - everything alright with this, I would suggest that some stock photo of it, some more recognizable photo of it should be posted. Something like this.

http://www.fmicassets.com/Damroot/ZoomJpg/10002/0119912700_gtr_frt_001_rr.jpg

That's actually the black version of a Fender Telecaster Thinline Super Deluxe (the photo for the normal Thinline). The one you posted is just a regular Thinline and I cannot do that, sorry.

This should be renamed to "Dunlop Jimi Hendrix JHM3 Uni-Vibe" equipboard.com/items/jimi-hendrix-uni-vibe

Fixed: http://equipboard.com/items/dunlop-jhm3-jimi-hendrix-univibe#revisions_form

This should be renamed to "Dunlop Jimi Hendrix JHM2 Octavio" equipboard.com/items/dunlop-jimi-hendrix-octavio

Fixed: http://equipboard.com/items/dunlop-jhm2-jimi-hendrix-octavio#revisions_form

This is a duplicate and should be deleted or merged with the above.

This was mostly fine but ehre's the improved version: http://equipboard.com/items/yamaha-motif-es6-61-key-music-production-synthesizer#revisions_form

Please change the name on the Catalinbread RAH (equipboard.com/items/catalinbread-rah) to be correctly capitalized and replace the image with that awful black background for this:
