In the day it was the bomb.
When the Rockman first came out it was a must have for late night practice; then Zoom came along not long after. The Zoom gave you a wider pallet of tone with amps, effects. The forefather of amp modeling. The size alone makes this one a keeper and nostalgic like a Atari game system.

Nice practice amp
It gets is four stars due to the $15 I paid for it at the pawn shop. It is like there Sans amp copy pedal integrated with a cheap SS amp. Nowhere near a Sans Amp or a good SS amp. It does provide palatable sound for practicing. Fender, Marshall, Mesa sims give the V-Tone amp usable for any style you play. It sounds as good as any low end Fender, Marshall, Crate, or Peavey. Capable of take abuse from a unappreciative child or the back of a cargo van work transport.
It is a good beginner amp or beater amp.

Very usable but could be better
This is for the Amplitube for Android not the Samsung Pro App for Android. You will need a iRig UA to use the app.
This free app is for those who have purchase the iRig UA. Using other interfaces will give latency and why the UA was design to deal with latency issues with Android.
Being a free app it doesn't offer as much compared to the iOS versions but then again you are paying for the iOS version. The app is designed for phones and will only display in portrait format and will not display in landscape even on tablets. Which sucks making it less desirable to use in a band rehearsal or a gig because the amp display you have to scroll to access amp controls if you need to do some tweaking. Once dialed in there are 12 presets editable and 3 blank spots for a total of 15 presents you can edit and are easy to switch around in portrait layout if you don't tweak that much and have your sound dialed in for familiar environments.
There is a demo mode sans UA to hear and play around with amps, effects, speakers, mics, and configurations with various guitar styles samples to test drive with. Let your ears decide if this is for you. I was impressed with the sound quality enough to buy the iRig UA (in another review).
Registering the App gives you use of the distortion pedal which I don't understand why not include it straight up. The base amps, effects are useful and you can purchase more effects or amps from the amp via Google Play. You can save money by buying amp or effect bundles reasonably priced. NOTE: Amps or Effects purchased for you iPxx or Computer are not transferable and vise versa. What sucks is unlike iOS or PC/Mac there is not recording (DAW) in the app. (Likely due to Android platform issues) I would be great if you could record (DAW) on the fly even if you have to pay for it.
Using the app with the UA you can on hear using your headphones plugged in to the UA unit and will not play as in demo mode through the phones speakers or ph. headphone jack. This too sucks since it would be great to Bluetooth from the phone to a speaker. Wireless will happen in the next few years whether by ik Media or someone else. When that happens game over for the traditional effects, amps, plethora of cables & power supplies as with Yes does now with iPads and Line 6 (Steve Howe) but with in reach of the common/working musician.
It gets 5 stars for Tone: For a head phone amp it has great tone.
Clean amp is a Fender Blackface Crunch amp is a Vox AC model Lead amp is a Marshall JMC model Metal amp is a Mesa Rectifier model Bass amp is unknown to me since I don't use it. OTHER AMPS you can purchase are FENDER, ORANGE, Jimi Hendrix, Slash, Randal-ish, and Soldano at a reasonable price and save more by buying the bundle packages. I bought the Soldano SLO-100 which sounds great. Maybe there will be Mesa in the future. Some of these amps are only available to Android and not available in iOS. Since these amps are similar to the Amplitube 4 I would say any purchase especially the Orange amps will give any musician a wider palate to work from.
In the words of Michael Soldano about his amps don't change the tubes change the speaker and in line with this you can change out cabinets to any of these amps as well as mics.
Stock effects are not bad either which are more like real pedals than some multi-effect modelers and can be position pre or post amp. You and only use one effect in each category at one time. So ideally you chain could look like this (Overdrive, Amp, Flanger, Delay, Cabinet, and Mic) or a variation there of. You have to scroll/flip to get to each effect and can not be access directly so it is better to use the presets since ik Media has not made a switch board for Android yet. The upside is the is no latency switching between presets.
For a free app it delivers in spades tone wise but the lack of landscape (for access to all amp controls in one screen) or wireless integration merits the 3 star rating. Unlike other headphone amps your phone has more processing power that dated designs of even current headphone amps and you can dial back on the volume on the guitar to cut gain for rhythm and increase the volume for lead and more gain like a regular amp which other amp modelers can not do. The UI is much better due to the screen on your device. Don't have to worry about cheap plastic knobs that can get broken. Install the app to another phone for a lifetime of use. Not have to worry about AA or AAA batteries as much since you phone is rechargeable. Use with the new iRig Duo Pro so you can sing and play guitar for busking or small gatherings.
It would be ideal if you could connect the phone via Bluetooth headphones or speaker and relatively go wireless. The only cables would be from the guitar to UA and UA to phone (clipped to the headstock)

Cheapest Tone Changing you can buy
Back in the early 80's I read that Billy Gibbons used Half Dollars as picks. Using the edges for crunchy tone. I was working in a guitar store and saw these and gave them a shot and haven't looked back.
It has been said one of the cheapest and most effective ways in shaping your tone is in the way you pick or use your pick. I would have to agree.
The are five ways I use this pick. 1. Standard way you use a pick for full rich tone. 2. Using the edge (giving you multiple attacks whist picking) with the pick bottom towards the bridge for crunchy tone for rhythm and lead. 3. Using the edge with the pick bottom facing towards the neck for a 12 string effect for rhythm. There is a difference in sound depending on the orientation of the pick using the edges. 4. Using the pointy end for rhythm. Gives a brighter and lighter tone 5. Flipping the pick around cupping the pick for fingerstyle/picking. The notch makes it easy to palm and keep the pick secure while doing this.
All this without switching guitars, messing with the tone controls, or effects. I love this pick. I use other Tortex picks as well but this is my main one. You will lose a Tortex pick before you need to replace it. They are very durable and easy to grip.

Great headphone device
The more I play with it the more I am getting to love it.
I have been using a PX3 for years and could wait for this to come out. Have the phone's rechargeable battery meant I did have to carry around a power supply or a butt load of batteries for the PX3.
Since I always have my phone, computer, and headset for work with me on the road. The UA was an ideal fit.
The UA is of plastic construction and very light and can get knocked around easily. Twice the size of other iRig interfaces but still small (two BIC lighters) Durable on all the bases it still performs after two years on the road. With the headphone output the volume can be adjusted on the UA to headphones, speaker, recording device, or Mp3 input of a car stereo for playing out in the boonies. The headphone output via computer will feed music with USB connection but not the case when connected via phone which, you will have to use the 1/8" input for music from the phone
Android app is free but limited compared to the iPxx app that you pay for and from reading reviews iOS owners seem to have a lot of issues; which I have not experienced with the UA and Amplitube UA. The is no landscape viewing like iPxx app which means you are scrolling to tweek an amp (which sucks). UI offer 4 slots, 1 each for Gain/Mod/Amp/Time effects; so you can't stack say 2 delays ect. but, you and move a effect pre/post in the amp chain. You can purchase amp packages (Fender/Marshall/Orange) the standard amp offerings are impressive but since the acquisition of Amplitube 4. I did add Soldano SLO-100 ...wish they offered a Mesa package and effects that are in the Amplitube app.
Amplitube app is great which has been mentioned already in Amplitube review. I will say this is where I notice a tiny bit of latency.
UA with amplitube sounds better say Line 6 pod products and modelers I own or have used, easier to use, and cheaper in the sense you already own a computer and taking that out of the equation. Keeping in mind you are not gigging but you think you are with it using it for Studio/Bedroom/Headphone use.

The Virtual Studio has come of Age.
Software is easy to use but will take time to explore all the options.
I purchased iRig UA was released but didn't care for the app as a portable headphone app that much the amps seemed... meh. I am on an extended stay out of town and wanted to do some recording. The cheapest and low footprint option was Amplitube. I had to buy it because I was a dumbass and covered up the serial # on the UA with Velcro and could have received the basic Amplitube for free.
First impression is WOW!!! I don’t seem to miss my Blackstar amp as much. The amps are realistic and have the sponginess and sag I was missing from the amps in the Amplitube Android App. Then again the Android app was free so you get what you pay for. On the other hand Amplitube 4 well, I didn't expect tube like sound from a program; IMO lifelike and realistic.
The effects are usable and pretty good as well. The sound is much better than any Line 6 product I have used or owned and for a lot less money too.
Interface is impressive from setting up effects loops and effects chain, (Amp options, Rack effects, Speakers, Cabinets, and Mike options).
The Looper or Recording options are great but, haven’t used it much yet….the reason I acquired this. I am having too much fun playing around with the amps. My impression is this is great for the bedroom musician or someone that doesn't have space for much gear to the budget recording studio or a traveling person like myself. Everyone from all walks will like it if not love it. Great substitute for the real thing as long it is not live on stage.

Swiss Army of Delays
What can't this pedal not do? With that ability to change up with toneprints, several delay types, or tweek with a computer you have millions of options. I lean towards setting up on the computer. It is a bummer you can't do this via android device like you can with a iproduct.
Construction: 5 Stars: solid as all T.C. products. The big screw makes it easy to access to change bypass or battery. You don't always have a screwdriver but you most likely have coinage in your pocket which will suffice in gaining access to the pedal. Some don't like the soft click when activate/deactivate thinking it is a poor switch that will give out but I prefer it over the EHX switches which are really noisy. The softer switch is a product Germanic engineering as with some German made telecom tools I have which these tools now have a noisy click because they did think it was performing like it was suppose to when there was no click.
Software: 4 Star. Toneprints are nifty if you are in a rut or trying to sound like a particular artist in a cover band. Computer interface is easy to figure out but would be better if you could use Android. You can set the parameters up so you don't have to get the flashlight to tweek the controls when changing delay types.
Delays: 5 Star You have many popular delays types to choose from. Warm analog type to pristine digital it is all there. I find this better sonically than the M9 or DL4 by Line 6 and 1/4 the size. The bitch is that you can't stack delays like the Line 6 M9 so I would recommend getting this with a Flashback Mini or a Flashback x4 (cheaper but big footprint) if this is something you are looking to do.
Looper 3.5 Star Haven't really used it since I have a Ditto looper which seems easier to use.

Goto Overdrive
Didn't need this pedal but $50 and being TC Electronic, why not? Surprise. compared it to Boss BD-2 Blues Driver I like the MojoMojo better because of the transparency of the Mojo and creamier tone I was getting for it.. Paired with the Dark Matter pedal I was able to get that Santana tone from a Roland Cube lite. (Bedroom Amp). Best for humbucking pups but works well with single coils. The tube like break up sounds better than the Soul Food but that is subjective.

Best looper ever
Looper's are not new however, this is the best looper ever. It is so easy to use, edit, and save loops. Saving loops to compute for other/future use is awesome soon to be replace by TC Electronics Wiretap Riff recorder for this feature. It did replace Digitech PDS-1002 Digital Delay for looping. It is easy to undo and redo riffs and licks. I like that you can use it as a Jam device whether you use your own music, or jam tracks downloaded from TC's website or a song you want to learn from a Mp3 and have the ability to record over it. It was the first pedal I had purchased in 20 years.

Oversize Headphone amp
I write this for those find one at a pawn shop or thrift store.Purchased this in a Great Plains music store on a work trip. Many useable effects and realistic amp models (respectively). Not good for travel compare to a Pandora PX3 which I was using at the time. You have to have a AC outlet for it to work since it does not take batteries. I have ran into people using as a multi-effect devices for home use in their solid state amps and it works for that being able to switch from amp models with the included footswitch however, with a one second latency switching between patches.
The tonal character is on par with simulators of that time. Distortions are bright and harsh which is ok for metal but not blues or fusion.
If you find it under $40 and have money to blow go for it otherwise, there are better options under $100.
Great for the bedroom musician/practice. Not for stage use obviously but, could work in a pinch.

Roadside find
Brother found it on the side of the road.
I am sure back in the day it was a great modeler like the Line 6 or Behringer; the sound is on par with these devices. It was easy to figure out the simulations are not bad and are useable for bedroom use. 20 yrs. later; Spyders, Viper's, and Mustangs, why would spend the money on this pedal? I'll keep it for a back up and practice.

A Mini Amp that sounds like an Amp
Blackstar hit one out of the park with is amp. While in G.C. during the holidays the staff were unboxing the Fly. Being a Blackstar Fan and needing a travel amp I bought it. The tone and heft sold me on the purchase
Owning many headphone and micro amps the Blackstar Fly is the best I ever used or owned. Other amps sound like listening to music through a handheld transistor radio. Thin/Tinny/Flat. The Fly sounds like a real amp for its size. True guitar tone comes through even at low volumes. The tone is meaty and the distortion is good as any top solid state amp. The ISF can be used as a tone control however it only controls the mids in that capacity.
Having a delay instead of reverb (which is uncommon in a Micro Amp) is a great idea and suits the way I play anyway.
Whether you are a beginner, traveler, parent, backyard performer the Fly is not only a great value but great amp. Especially if your kid gives up on the guitar you are not out of a lot of money and the kid has a good music speaker so not a complete loss.
Why?
1. Headphone Jack, which is better than ID TVP series amps
2. Satisfying sound at low volumes which make parents, Neighbours, Hotel Guest happy. Win-Win for everyone.
3. Loud enough for camping/deck playing
4. Lightweight and compact for on the FLY playing.
5. You could use it for busking I guess.
6. Use it to play music from Mp3/phone/Computer. It sounds as good as my bluetooth speakers i.e. Bose; so I can jam along with recordings.
What sucks the store did have a DC power supply and had to order one. I had fried the Fly using a Radio Shack power supply (matching Voltage and Amp). So you have to use Blackstar's power supply. Though the battery life is not bad about 15 hrs.

Keeps growing on me.
Reading about the Soul Food got me intrigued. Never owned a Klon, heard a Klon, nor care about a Klon. What I need was some boost and light overdrive that was transparent and affordable. Blues artist I know all have raved about the Soul Food tell me this is what I need that they have one or on the wish list.
So getting one home I didn't care for it a first being use to tube screamers and compared to the Boss BD-2 it a little bright. However in the past few months the Soul Food has been integrated back in. The Soul Food makes a great clean boost and with the drive set about 1 o'clock I get a nice break up and great transparent tone. Responsive to the force in picking/strumming. While not my main OD pedal it is the most transparent of my OD pedals and works as a nice boost to the other Distortion pedals I use. For the price it was a steal.
Great pedal for blues/fusion jazz and classic rock.

Most transparent Overdrive I have ever heard.
I was at local store when the sales staff was playing with the Voyager that someone sold to the store. I don't think I have ever heard a Overdrive that was so transparent. It is on the wish list should I ever come across one again.

Ditto X2 made me buy this.
A couple years ago I bought a Blackstar ID 30 and Ditto X2... tried to loop through the ID30 ... epic fail. I try to keep it simple. Needed a good delay & chorus. Hearing about DL 4 decided to look further went to my local store and saw this. I didn't need or want a amp modeler multi effect board, I have the ID 30. Upon learning this was the POD 500 sans amp modeling and it was the DL 4 plus it was a workable solution to use with the Ditto X2.
While I have a low opinion of Line 6 in general, I bought it. What can I say, Delays are excellent and love the idea you can stack multiple delays... Or any effects. Easier than TC Electronic Flashback or Flashback Mini. You can set up multiple delays (effects) which beats bending over and setting and resetting for different songs.
Modulations are great too. Distortions sound a little thin but usable though I would not use them for serious performing or recording but, good enough for looping. Filters ...don't use them but nice to have should you need them. Reverbs are good. The 30 second looper is not bad either.
If I were to use one pedal this would be it. Build seems solid though I have read players have had issues with switches. Power supply is clunky. There are many effects to pull from if you need it most you will never use unless your name is Zappa. Foot print is about the same size as the DL 4 so for $100 more why not.

Great for travelers
While in Nashville saw this @ G. C. Sounded great. Paint job is not stellar. Pots taper are sub par. Pain in the Arse to tune. Came w/ Gig Bag. Despite these short cummings plays great and sounds good enough. Fits in a carry on yet 24.5" Scale. Balance feels weird but you get use to it . Great for practice. Wouldn't travel w/o it.

Classic Digtial Delay
Never needed a pedal til I wanted play like Vini Reilly of Durutti Column. Didn't know what I was looking for. Though this WOULD do. 30 yrs old & still works. Easy to use. Clean delay Battery Eater about 1 hr. On 9V . Make sure you use a power Supply. Used as apseudo-looper Built Like A Tank

Good workmanship, versatile and under rated.
Always wanted a Brian Moore I9 because of the versatility of sounds you can get from the way it is set up. A jack of all trades, master of none is what you get with is guitar but not pedestrian by any stretch . If I were to only to use one guitar this would be it; not because it is that good soundwise but good enough to pull off anything style I throw at it. The HSH Seymour Duncan coil tap pick up configuration allows single coil sound for blues/rock and a humbucking sound for jazz/Hard rock.
Quilted maple top is beautiful. Mine came with a Floyd Rose which I really like.
The I9 is a under appreciated guitar IMO and as good as Godin's and other like guitars. If you are a jack of all trades this is your guitar.

Excellent guitar for the money
Bought this on a whim at G.C. used.
The action and build quality was superlative. Finish like satin and sounded great. Even if I bought on new and I would again if this one got stolen; is a great value. The weight is lighter that models of this style and yet great sustain.

Best LP style for $100
This is my second one. Bought the first two year ago for bonfire. The guitar was going to be the kindling to start the bonfire. However I could believe this was a $100 guitar. The action was good as well as the intonation. Sounded as good as any sub $500 guitar of this style out there. So I bought a second on to mod out. So I thought.
Will $100 you get tangibly a decent paint job, gig bag (stylish shipping protection and a faux sense of value). hex keys for adjustments, Certificate of inspection, not so good tuners, strings that will need to replace and some pots that taper well for the price but will be replaced.
Sounds good right out of the box. As with the Gold top Route 66 the toggle was broken this time I fixed it instead of sending it back which, Monoprice will happily take back and replace. The toggle was installed yet not assembled. Easy enough fix. Oiled the fretboard it was dry. Filed some sharp frets. Tap down that 8th fret that was causing some buzzing. Fixed the tune o matic bridge that was causing buzzing from the retaining spring on the B string. (a common issue with T.O.M.'s) Removed cutting burrs on the nut that will get replaced.
Overall despite this minor issues a great value for any beginner, maverick. even semi pro player who can't justify $2000 for a guitar. Even modded out you are still under $300 for a good guitar.
