Best LP style for $100
This is my second one. Bought the first two year ago for bonfire. The guitar was going to be the kindling to start the bonfire. However I could believe this was a $100 guitar. The action was good as well as the intonation. Sounded as good as any sub $500 guitar of this style out there. So I bought a second on to mod out. So I thought.
Will $100 you get tangibly a decent paint job, gig bag (stylish shipping protection and a faux sense of value). hex keys for adjustments, Certificate of inspection, not so good tuners, strings that will need to replace and some pots that taper well for the price but will be replaced.
Sounds good right out of the box. As with the Gold top Route 66 the toggle was broken this time I fixed it instead of sending it back which, Monoprice will happily take back and replace. The toggle was installed yet not assembled. Easy enough fix. Oiled the fretboard it was dry. Filed some sharp frets. Tap down that 8th fret that was causing some buzzing. Fixed the tune o matic bridge that was causing buzzing from the retaining spring on the B string. (a common issue with T.O.M.'s) Removed cutting burrs on the nut that will get replaced.
Overall despite this minor issues a great value for any beginner, maverick. even semi pro player who can't justify $2000 for a guitar. Even modded out you are still under $300 for a good guitar.
