During my first The Strokes concert at Lollapalooza Brasil 2017, I was thrilled to catch a white Tortex Albert Hammond Jr. "AHJ" Official Custom Pick after they played "Hard to Explain." In this video, Albert Hammond Jr talks about his signature model Fender Strat:
My name is Albert Hammond Jr, and this is my signature Strat. There is something about this guitar and how it looks and how it feels that is comforting. The pickups and the neck are the two main factors. So they give you a feel in your hands, and a sound that starts you off on where you want to go. I feel like that, sonically, is what's going to make the unique difference between this Strat and another Strat. So we were building it with the same intensity that I play. I wanted a generation to grab it and just feel the same way I did when I grab it and not even know and just have this amazing guitar. I like the idea that it has pieces of me in it but it's a blank slate for someone else to have their own journey with.
