Alessandro Cortini's Gear
"One of the most interesting and creative ways to play and modify samples and recordings. It turns everything into an instrument."
Alessandro is speaking about Reaktor at "3:20" (more or less) of this video
"Plug in wise, SoundToys Echoboy is the one which gets most use around here, followed by Logic’s stereo and Tape delay: simple but effective."
At 0:03 Alessandro says Logic has always been his DAW
Find it on:
In the Eurorack modular synthesizer plays in this video you can see two Livewire Audio Frequency Generator oscillator modules in the middle of the synth starting at 1:42.
"I wasn't kidding when I said he likes electronic music!" exclaims Alessandro Cortini, about his cat who can be seen next to an ARP 2600 in this Instagram video clip.
In this Instagram video clip of an Oberheim TVS-1 Two Voice, Alessandro Cortini comments: "Welcome back to the family tvs1"
The Nord Drum can be seen in Cortini's rack at 7:01 in the video. It is controlled by trigger pads above his keyboards.
He uses a slightly modified version of this, as you can see in the video it's basically the same but a few of the modules have been moved from one side to other other or replaced, as you would expect from anyone who owns such a modular and customisable piece of equipment!
EMS VCS 3 can be seen during Alessandro Cortini's "synth cave" tour. The item can be seen 15:31 into this video.
"The VCS is very cool to record straight, straight from the speakers."
Roland MC-202 can be seen during Alessandro Cortini's "synth cave" tour. The item can be seen 10:03 into this video.
Alessandro used just a Roland MC-202 and a delay pedal to record his "Sonno" album.
Roland TR-808 can be seen during Alessandro Cortini's "synth cave" tour. The item can be seen 10:58 into this video.
Roland TB-303 with Devil Fish mod can be seen during Alessandro Cortini's "synth cave" tour. The item can be seen 10:03 into this video.
TB-303 was prominently featured on Alessandro's Risveglio LP.
“The 303 can be such a haunting instrument used in a certain way, and I felt it completely fit the mood of the previous work I have done on the 202, especially when given a specific location in space. It’s such a living instrument.”

The Prophet-5 can be seen during Alessandro Cortini's "synth cave" tour. The item can be seen 12:18 into this video. The "Prophet-5" logo plate can be clearly seen in the bottom-left corner of the frame.
In a YouTube video, Alessandro Cortini refers to the Jomox SunSyn as "one of my favorite synths," highlighting his use of this instrument.
“I used the H8000FW a lot on my recent projects, and I am continually amazed at the sonic quality of the H8000FW. Plug-ins are great, and I use them quite a bit, but there is something special about the sound of the H8000FW that creates a special place in the mix. It really makes a big difference.”
"The audio of that movie routes through filters, envelopes, a Strymon DECO, a Strymon Timeline, or Dig, an Industrialectric Echo Degrader, a Way Huge Supa-Puss, which is one of my favorite delays ever, a Strymon Blue Sky, a Mr Black Eterna Gold, and an RML Fuzz."

In an interview with Reverb, Alessandro Cortini expresses his admiration for the Clavia Nord Lead 2 Synthesizer, describing it as "incredible" and highlighting its virtual analog capabilities.
"The Korg Prophecy, and Waldorfs are amazing. The Nord Lead 2 is incredible and it’s virtual analog. The Nord Modular is weird, glassy, and awesome. The ROLI Seaboard RISE’s hardware is great, but only half the story. "
"I’ve been playing my ‘61 Jazzmaster, and my Custom Shop Telemaster, loaded with P-90’s, that I bought used. It’s funny, I want shredding guitars to look perfect (laughs), but I love that these two guitars are worn."
At "0:08" you can notice his name in the presets list.
"What instruments were you used to layering? A Jomox XBase 09 for the more standard sounding analog drums, NI’s massive for some of the drones, a lot of UAD plugins for mixing, SoundToys Decapitator, Crystallizer, and a healthy dose of Eventide H8000FW."
"Tour guitar/bass rig improvements. #ninrig"
