At 12:20 in his video with Future Music, Crystallizer can be seen at the very bottom of his plugin list.
In this inteview, Steve Aoki gives us a look to the main gear he use to produce records in both of his studios : The ''Neon Future Cave'' in Las Vegas, NV and the ''Dim Mak Studio'' in Los Angeles, CA.
I have a good amount of Waves plugins, like the CLA Vocal and the JJP Vocals. I think that most people use those. These are all basically one vocal engine that includes compression, EQ Boost, Delays etc. Soundtoys is another plugin that I use, Echo Boys for delays, Crystalliser, which has some cool stuff with pitch shifting and reverse echo.
This article in FACT magazine details how Hans Zimmer and Benjamin Wallfisch created the Bladerunner 2049 soundtrack:
"The CS-80 was part of a coterie of synths. They also used the u-he “wireless” modular plugin Zebra, as well as the company’s Diva softsynth, which was designed by Urs Heckmann based on Zimmer’s favorite Minimoog; Wallfisch was able to bring out a DSI Prophet-12 he hadn’t yet had the opportunity to use; a SoundToys Crystallizer granular synth altered compositions and then pieces were put through tape delays and covered in reverb before being processed again with the Crystallizer. “One of the things we talked about was the idea of ‘more human than human,’” Wallfisch says. “When you’re creating, you play a chord, and then all these machines take care of this extraordinary, strange, replicant-style advancement of something acoustic.”"
In a livestream titled "4.5.20 - Quick CoronaJam!" on YouTube, Mike Shinoda uses the Soundtoys Crystallizer plugin.
He shows in this stream how he uses this plugin on piano to create cool effects.
In an interview with Tape Notes, Jamie xx confirmed that he uses the Soundtoys Crystallizer VST for the vocals on his song "Breathe." This information is directly from Jamie xx, as seen in the interview available on YouTube.
If I have a sound, and I want it to just sort of live on, but not just with a reverb or an echo, something a little more odd, Crystallizer’s a really cool program.
"What instruments were you used to layering? A Jomox XBase 09 for the more standard sounding analog drums, NI’s massive for some of the drones, a lot of UAD plugins for mixing, SoundToys Decapitator, Crystallizer, and a healthy dose of Eventide H8000FW."
Used on "When the Curtain Falls", as stated by mix engineer Al Sutton in this January 2019 Sound on Sound interview.
"I also had the Opticom in the bass for parallel compression. In this case I'll run that really dirty and blend it back in. I did this with one of the guitar tracks as well, the 'Guitar SC' track, but in this case I used the plug-in version of the Opticom. I'll really drive the plug-in and mix the result in underneath for some harmonic enhancement. I added some reverb on some of the guitars with the Avid ReVibe and added some additional effect with the SoundToys Crystallizer, but that was it. I didn't use outboard on the guitars, it was just straight into the board and then to the mix bus."
In an interview with Guitar.com, Jimmy Smith of Foals discusses his experience with the Soundtoys Crystallizer plugin. He notes its widespread use in recordings around the time the blueSky reverb pedal became popular, expressing a preference for simpler gear. Despite the complexity of newer effects, Smith acknowledges having the Crystallizer on one of his pedalboards.
