Butch Walker's Guitars
"I love these Yamaha FG180 acoustics. I have several original ones from the 70's-80's and they're always on records I do, at my house, backstage in dressing rooms and on the bus. Kinda secret recording weapons honestly. They just made a limited edition 50th Anniversary model and I'm blown away by it. Thanks for this baby, @yamahacorpus I will be playing it errday!" - Butch Walker via Facebook
For Fender sessions, Walker used Fender American Design Experience Telecaster.
Best Guitar I’ve ever Played. Period. Makes me play and sound better.” – Butch Walker
In a YouTube video titled "Butch Walker - Uncomfortably Numb," Butch Walker is seen playing a Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster. This guitar, noted for its unique configuration, features two humbuckers, a standard Strat tremolo, a reverse headstock, and a cream distressed finish. During a 2018 performance at Irving Plaza in NYC, Butch's bandmate mentioned that the Fender Custom Shop crafted this instrument specifically for him.
This ’68 Gibson Trini Lopez is one of Walker’s all-time favorites. “It’s on every record I do because I can grab it, and no matter the climate or where I am, it’s always in tune and plays perfect all way up the neck. Plus, it sounds insane – huge, big, bright, full – and it looks bitchin’.”
In April 2014, Butch Walker shared this photo on Instagram, showing his Guild Orpheum Series 14-Fret Slope-Shoulder MH Acoustic Guitar. He says, "Loving this Guild Orpheum acoustic! So good.."
In this Gibson interview, Walker says he has a 1967 Gibson ES-335.
"Calling himself an “artist first,” Walker’s got the guitar collection to back it up. With his three favorite Gibsons being his ’67 ES-335, ’71 ES-355, and a late-’60s EB0 bass, Walker says, “Those are my Gibsons that I don’t take on the road. " - Walker about his "holy grail" Gibsons.
"On his frequent tours, Walker always takes along a ’72 Les Paul, two newer Firebirds, a ’60s Les Paul Junior, an EB-3 bass, an '80 EDS-1275, and a ’62 Hummingbird. Though Walker says he began his collection by buying and selling various guitars, his producing job means he no longer has to sell any." - excerpt from Gibson interview.
