Emily Wolfe

Wolfe is a keen fan of hollowbody guitars. One of her tattoos commemorates the set of TV Jones pickups found in her old Gretsch 2420T. She had to sell the guitar to make rent, hence the commemoration in ink, but she’s still committed to hollow electrics.

In an interview with EarthQuaker Devices Emily Wolfe discusses the pedals she used on her Outlier album.

“I brought a bunch of pedals. We used the Erupter a ton and the Dirt Transmitter. The Tentacle is on, like, every song.”

The pedal was present in her 2021 pedalboard, according to Premier Guitar interview.

She says she never really liked using chorus until she stumbled across the Walrus Audio Julia Analog Chorus/Vibrato pedal. "It's pretty inspiring. 'My Lungs Give Out' was pretty much because of that pedal," she shares. "It kind of wrote the intro for me." The song's gentle vocal and subtle use of the pedal in the intro, followed by her singing paralleled by quietly distorted guitar in the pre-chorus, calls St. Vincent to mind. That's a comparison Wolfe responds to favorably.
