Brian Fallon's Gear
This photo posted to Instagram by fenderguitar shows Brian Fallon performing live and playing his Fender American Vintage ’64 Telecaster in Aged White Blonde finish.
"I've wanted a Les Paul Junior for about five years now, and it always seemed to escape me, either I didn't have the money, or I couldn't find the right one. But recently I found a 1988 Junior that a friend had and I bought it off of him, and then I got one of the USA Juniors that I bought from Gibson last month, I adore these guitars, it's like their extensions of my hands. I always had a lot of problems with other guitars where they never fit me right, I have a weird frame, short arms and wide shoulders, so I can't play certain guitars or I get cramps in my wrists. But when I started with the Juniors it was like they were custom made for me, and they sound amazing, probably the most versatile guitars I've ever played, the sounds you can get from one volume and one tone knob and a P90 are classic!" - Fallon on Gibson.com
4:13 Brian Fallon says that the title for "The 59 Sound" came from the name of an amp he worked on called a 59 Bassman.
In talking about the pedals in Brian Fallon's pedalboard setup, his tech says the signal flows from his wah pedal, to the Fulltone OCD, and then to the Black Arts Pharaoh pedal (19:40 into this video). He says, "...it's a fuzz pedal that's been really good." The flow continues into the "mystery EVH Phase 90."
Fallon’s main amp is a very Vox-like JMI AM 15 T with a JMI Celestion speaker.
"The only thing I regret is I didn't have them for the album, but on the next one it's gonna be full of them, and maybe a Gibson Blues King acoustic, and a Gibson ES-335 or two, but the Juniors are my main guitars for sure." - Brian Fallon on which guitars he'll use on the next records
“The main guitar that I use is a ’56 VOS Goldtop Gibson Les Paul. I flip the volume knobs, so that the bridge volume is closer to my finger – then I can grab it with my pinky and do volume swells.”
- Brian Fallon, April 2011
Presumably used around the time of American Slang and Handwritten.
In a 2013 video by Gibson Germany, Brian Fallon is seen playing a Gibson J-45 during an acoustic performance of "Handwritten" while in Germany.
On the electric side, he turned to his Telecaster and a simple setup that helped to bring the whole thing together as a single piece: a Tube Screamer, a Fulltone Solid State Tape Echo, and a 1966 Fender Deluxe Reverb amp.

Fallon uses at least two Les Paul Customs. According to The Music Zoo, where Fallon got those, he had used the ebony one (Ebony 58 LP with a walnut colored back) on "Handwritten". The other one is a Gibson Custom Shop Orange Sunset Fade Heavily Aged R9. More details and pictures on http://www.themusiczoo.com/blog/2013/brian-fallon-of-the-gaslight-anthem-visits-the-zoo/
"Also - this little gem is a @martinguitar D-41, I was inspired by Neil Young to try one and convinced when I heard @jasonisbell likes them. Anyway, it rules. They rule. And I use a @fishmanmusic Infinity Matrix pickups system with a @lrbaggsofficial floor preamp. Ok - end nerd rant. Love to everybody."
Per Brian Fallon's Instagram post: WARNING - this post is for the nerds - like me. For anyone who asked me how I got the rhythm tone on 59 Sound and every other record - this pedal combined my whole guitar world into one. Oh, yeah and it does some other clowns named Mike Campbell, and John Frusciante, and Mark Knopfler too. Never heard of ‘em though. Hear they’re coming up. @keeleyelectronics
The 2nd pedal in Brian Fallon's simple pedalboard setup, after his Jim Dunlop British Invasion Wah, is the Fulltone OCD Obsessive Compulsive Drive Overdrive Guitar Effects Pedal, which his guitar tech says is set to a "really, really minimal drive to it, you can see it's just barely set, and that's just a little bit more drive." (19:29 into this rig rundown video).
Brian carries three Fender Custom Shop Relic Telecasters on the road. One features Custom Shop Nocaster pickups; the other two each sport a set of Lollar ’52 T pickups. All three Teles feature a 4-way switching system for more tonal options, and Brad Clifford strings them with SIT Power Wound Nickel sets, gauged .010-046.
Brian Fallon's instagram: "post thebrianfallonGuitarmagedeon with the good folks @russomusicnj - always a good time. This one's mine, but it's slightly more flamed top twin is still available. Thanks everybody!" There is a custom shop sticker resting on the pick guard of the les paul still.

Brian Fallon's recent Instagram post standing in front of the Metropoulos amp head. "Finally getting to my gear demos! I’m starting out with humbucker pickup sets. I’m doing a bunch that I think are great companies. Nothing flashy, just a few chords, few tiny licks, and the same guitar and amp. Be back shortly... update: the shirt is available @russomusicnj"

Happy @earthquakerdev Earthquaker Day! While solo LP2 is being mixed, I thought I'd take this opportunity to let you know that this little Pedal helped me a great deal during the writing and recording of the record. It goes from subtle slapback, subtle reverb, to beautiful swells and reverse tape delay that really helped create some cool sounds and inspired some of the music that came out. Check it out for yourself and see if it doesn't open a few doors in your mind's ????
From one of his instagram posts: "People ask me all the time about the various pickups I use in my guitars... Here's the ones I use in everything... @Bareknucklepickups "the mule" - made in the UK, great for the classic 60's British tones - like Free, Bowie, early Clapton and early Stones.
Fallon’s Salvage Custom pedalboard features an internally hidden T-Rex Fuel Tank Chameleon power source. On top, the signal enters a Dunlop British Invasion Cry Baby Wah decorated with a limited-edition Union Jack paint job. Next is a Fulltone OCD, then a Black Arts Pharaoh that runs into a MXR EVH90 Phase 90. Last in line is a tried-and-true Boss TU-3.
In this interview, Fallon says he started using the SS-3 after seeing it on Noel Gallagher's pedalboard:
“Noel is actually the reason I ended up playing 355s. I started out with 335s but thought his looked cooler with the Custom shop logo. And he’s got a killer sound live, so I checked out his rig and saw a Cornish SS-3. And seriously, they’re the best pedals I’ve played in my life… what they do is insane.
That’s the beauty of it, I can do whatever I want with a day’s notice and get people to play different parts!
“There’s a buffer in there, so if you have a lot of pedals, it runs through that before anything to clean and brighten it up. Even when the pedal’s off, the buffer is still running in there. It does something weird to the tone, but in the best way possible.
“It makes a Klon look like kid’s stuff. I don’t wanna hear that sound anymore, I can hear it on every record. It’s a bit like the Tube Screamer! The only person I want to hear playing a Tube Screamer is Stevie Ray Vaughan.”
"People ask me all the time about the various pickups I use in my guitars... Here's the ones I use in everything. From top Left going clockwise: @lollarpickups imperial. - my first love. Best guys and gals and TOP quality pickups."
"People ask me all the time about the various pickups I use in my guitars... Here's the ones I use in everything... the @lutherlee vintage 50s P90 for more of a smooth Social D type tone, which cleans up amazingly. Think "Story of my Life" tone."

To accentuate this aspect of Local Honey, the album’s palette is considered and largely acoustic. Fallon played his Martin 00-42, a custom model he picked up at Russo Music in Asbury Park, New Jersey throughout the recording.
