Guthrie Govan's Gear
The source link is all about Guthrie Govan speaking about and demonstrating Victory Amplifiers, his new endorsement. He Informs that the V30 The Countess was elaborated and created with his help, keeping in mind the traveling musician.
I only brought one on tour, if anyone’s curious, and it was the ash-bodied version which sounds a little Strat-ier through the Victory V30 head. And it’s the MKII V30, which has a little button on the back so you can switch between the new voicing and the old voicing. Mostly I was using the new voicing, which maybe sounds 10 percent more American to my ears, and a little differently focused in the midrange. But something like “Bonnie and Clyde” is the old voicing of that amp.
In 2021 Guitar World interview, Govan talks about the use of the amp in The Aristocrats' song, "When We All Come Together:
Amp-wise, that was just the clean channel of the Victory V30 head. The real secret weapon in that song was a bizarre instrument that I found lying around in the studio - I believe it was called a BilT Corvaire.
In the video titled "Guthrie Govan - Regret #9 - Guitar Solo" by Marin Grubišić on YouTube, Guthrie Govan is seen playing a Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster.
From 5:14 Guthrie talks about his guitar saying "it’s quite a busy band, it’s got a lot going on sonically". As you can see this is the Charvel Guthrie Govan signature model. In 2019 Guitar World interview, Govan reveals that he used the signature model on The Aristocrats' 2019 record, "You Know What...?"
I also discovered that I really like Vox AC30s for a certain kind of clean tone. “Last Orders” has a thin Stratty-sounding pickup setting running into an AC30, which adds this warm roundness. I left the studio wondering why I hadn’t recorded more stuff using that kind of tone. Sometimes a different combination of gear will inspire you to imagine different things, whereas if you had started with your regular gear, these ideas might never have occurred to you.
"Amp-wise, I used a Vox AC30 for the clean tones in 'Spanish Eddie' and 'Last Orders,' whilst 'All Said and Done' was recorded with a small Carr combo - I don't remember the model name, alas - in an attempt to evoke more of a 'vintage' vibe.
At 3:39 in this Premier Guitar interview, Guthrie Govan discusses his Suhr Badger 30 amplifier.
"Guthrie unleashes the full potential of the Boden 8 Custom Shop with True Temperament in his work with Hans Zimmer."

In this video at 0:18 Guthrie shows his Guyatone Wah Rocker 3 pedal, stating that "arguably the best pedal in the world is on this board, and it's the cheapest one". "The tiny purple thing" that "really encourages you to play dynamic".
Guthrie Govan shows his Xotic SL Drive at 4:20 in this video.
"It has a thicker neck, the world's largest headstock. It's kind of jazz master shaped but you can see there's some non-jazzmaster DNA in there..." says Guthrie, at around 5:00 in this rig rundown video.
At 1:00 in this video, Guthrie talks about the Koko Boost. He says, "That's really good for overdriven but not ridiculously overdriven amps...If you're going to run your signal through lots of other pedals, that kind of gives you strength so that your signal comes out like it came in your pedalboard."
At 2:15 in this video, Guthrie mentions his Guyatone Wah Rocker pedal, saying, "It just goes quack...It's small, it sounds like a duck, what's not to like."
at 1:13 you can hear Guthrie joking about the fact the V10 is 10 watts. At 2:10 you can see at the bottom of the video that the V10 is being used. At 5:40 he tells about how he tinkers with the V10 at home and how he's trying to work that amp into his home recording routine.
In this photo, Govan can be seen playing through the Fractal FX8.
Fractal FX8 for effects processing and amp-channel switching (“Just to clear up one common misconception," says Govan, “all overdrive tones are generated by the amp itself, not the Fractal.”)
Guthrie is seen playing this guitar at 0:11, 0:38 1:00 and 3:35
At 3:11 of this video you can see the Strymon Flint Tremolo on the Guthrie Govan's pedalboard and Guthrie talks about this pedal.
At 4:54 in this Premier Guitar interview, Guthrie Govan shows his pedal-board, which includes a TC Electronic Flashback Delay TonePrint Series guitar effects pedal.
"When I'm playing with The Aristocrats, I'm generally using this splendid amp here, the Suhr Badger..."

Guthrie talks about his TC Electronic Ditto Looper pedal at 9:35. He says, "This is not something I use when I'm gigging, but it's very helpful when I'm doing clinics and stuff like that."

Used on Hand Cannot Erase by Steven Wilson.
For instance, I now know I should acquire a Fender Jazzmaster. [In the studio] they had a really nice ’60s Jazzmaster and that’s what you hear on all of “Spiritus Cactus.”
In a demo video by Guitar Interactive Magazine, Guthrie Govan showcases his mastery of the Vigier Excalibur Surfreter Supra Fretless Guitar, commenting on the intuitive finger placement developed from playing fretted instruments.
In the video "Guthrie Govan's Late Night Sessions 3" by JTC Guitar, Guthrie Govan is shown using the Fractal Axe-Fx II Guitar Effects Processor.
Used on the Steven Wilson Tour for the "Rhino" Patch.
Used in "The Aristocrats" tour 2015.
On The Aristocrats' website, a V50 The Earl amp is listed among Guthrie's gear.
I borrowed an old Univibe for the solo section of 'D-Grade...' whilst the weird guitar textures on 'Burial at Sea' were generated with an Eventide H9, mainly using its Synthonizer algorithm... Oh, and I made subtle use of an Xotic EP Booster here and there... most notably on Terrible Lizard.
The pedal was also mentioned in 2019 Guitar World interview.
In this photo of Guthrie's pedalboard, from this Premier Guitar rig rundown, a Wampler Pedals Tweed '57 can be seen.
