Features and functionality

  • The V30 Countess includes several voicing switches and a low wattage mode, making it adaptable for different environments and volume needs.

    Source
  • Despite the low wattage mode, it's still quite loud, which may not be ideal for apartment settings unless managed carefully.

  • The amp’s low wattage mode and dual master volumes on both channels enable users to achieve desired tones without needing to excessively crank the amp.

    Source
  • The footswitchable NoMod feature allows users to switch between a focused, treblier EQ and a fuller, looser sound, adding versatility to tone adjustments.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • It excels as a pedal platform, handling dirt pedals and preamps well, from clean ambient tones to heavy metal distortion.

    Source
  • The V30's master volume allows for reasonable home use, even in apartments, when paired with a slightly less efficient speaker and an attenuator like the Torpedo Captor.

    Source

Comparisons

    Source
  • A user expressed skepticism about the value proposition of Victory amps compared to other brands, suggesting they may not offer unique benefits for their price range.

    Source

User experience

  • Users appreciate its lightweight build and sturdy construction, describing it as "built like a tank" and suitable for robust handling.

    Source
  • One owner notes the amp performs well at volumes below 80 dB, with minimal treble loss, making it suitable for quieter settings without compromising sound quality.

    Source
  • Some owners report that the V30 Countess MkII is somewhat noisy, potentially impacting its performance in noise-sensitive environments.

    Source

Mods and upgrades

  • Owners recommend using a Torpedo Captor or Captor X for better tone management at lower volumes, suggesting it enhances the amp's performance with cab simulations and headphones.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • There is a perception that Victory amps are priced for a niche market, potentially targeting those interested in boutique, British-made equipment.

Small but Huge

Great sounding amp. I bought it last year second hand in perfect condition. If look close to it you can see a very good construction, quality of materials and attention to details. The bag provided by the factory is very confortable and "smart" so that you cam carry in it all you need to plug and play. The sound is very british on both clean and dirty channel, and they hide inside a multitude of sound in them;from warm clean to smooth crunch to high gain. I personally help the clean channel to break up with a Klon Centaur. The power stage can be "high" or "low" so that you can explore many dynamics. Another cool feature is that in the "low" state of the power section you can decide wich tubes to use, this also helps to have more sounds! Is small enough to carry as a luggage on the plain! Downside..i'm still looking for them

The source link is all about Guthrie Govan speaking about and demonstrating Victory Amplifiers, his new endorsement. He Informs that the V30 The Countess was elaborated and created with his help, keeping in mind the traveling musician.

Premier Guitar:

I only brought one on tour, if anyone’s curious, and it was the ash-bodied version which sounds a little Strat-ier through the Victory V30 head. And it’s the MKII V30, which has a little button on the back so you can switch between the new voicing and the old voicing. Mostly I was using the new voicing, which maybe sounds 10 percent more American to my ears, and a little differently focused in the midrange. But something like “Bonnie and Clyde” is the old voicing of that amp.

In 2021 Guitar World interview, Govan talks about the use of the amp in The Aristocrats' song, "When We All Come Together:

Amp-wise, that was just the clean channel of the Victory V30 head. The real secret weapon in that song was a bizarre instrument that I found lying around in the studio - I believe it was called a BilT Corvaire.
