Early Dead Milkmen albums definitely have a very clean guitar sound (with reverb and chorus), which definitely seems to fit with the anecdotes in the forums that Joe Jack Talcum always used a Roland JC-120, but then I was browsing YouTube and found this video from 1992 where the amplifier is clearly visible next to the bassist's amplifier.
