John Osborne's Gear
John Osborne goes over his B-bender Tele specs in this preview video for his Rig Rundown with Premier Guitar. It's the neck from his 1968 "Smuggler" Telecaster bolted onto a B-Bender he bought off of eBay, and he installed Lollar pickups in it.
This is what John tours with now. He said it was a leap of faith because you can’t find these amps anywhere, but he had friends that swore by them. He said he went from a Bassman to this. He compared it from going to a car to a rocket ship. He said the tonal range on it is massive.
This Gibson Custom Shop R9 Les Paul is used live on many songs. It has a Bigsby loaded into it. He most notably plays it on “Burning Man” with Dierks Bentley.
John Osborne of Brothers Osborne frequently plays a Fender American Professional Telecaster, as highlighted in an interview with LATF USA. He uses this guitar in performances of hits like "21 Summer" and "Stay a Little Longer."
Uses it for "Stay A Little Longer". Back when he was touring with just one guitar and didn't have a touring team.
From the Rig Rundown - Brothers Osnorne (24:34)
Uses it for delay and spring reverb. "Don't have the patience to understand it"
John uses a 1964 all stock Gibson Firebird on a few songs during their shows now. In the rig-rundown with premier guitar, he plays it and showcases the “spanky” pickups he has on it, along with why he loves it.
He found this 1960 re-finished 335 on Reverb.com for significantly cheaper if it wasn’t refinished. I have seen him play it on “It Ain’t My Fault” and many other songs live.
John uses this Eastman MD915 on “Tequila Again” and when they cover “Copperhead Road”. In this article, it shows a picture of John’s guitar collection, with his mandolin being second from the left.
He said he keeps going back to this pedal because it is “creamy and warm”.
Puts it in front of all of his other gain pedals. Gives him a little bit more gain.
In the Premier Guitar "Rig Rundown" video, John Osborne discusses using the Origin Effects Cali76 Compact Deluxe, highlighting its wide range and versatility.

Find it on:
He said he used this pedal a lot on their record.
He said it’s easy and he loves all the reverb sounds he gets.
He runs from his wireless unit into this Radial JDI direct box that sits on his board.
He uses this phaser pedal strictly for the song “Shoot Me Straight”. He says it has such a certain sound, he has to use this pedal.
In a Premier Guitar Rig Rundown interview, John Osborne discusses using the Xotic Effects EP Booster to enhance his solos.
In the rig rundown when he talks about his amp, this is sitting on top of it. He uses this to control the amps output while also being able to push the tubes.
On the picture of his pedal board, it notes he uses a Shure UXLD1 wireless unit for his guitar input, which runs to a Radial JDI on his board.
He uses a switchblade so he can easily switch from his electric to mandolin on certain songs. It allows him to use the same input cable, which then hits the switchblade and sends two different signals.
Gibson Custom 1963 Firebird V Electric Guitar, Murphy Lab Ultra Light Aged
Solid Body Electric GuitarsIn this video, John Osborne demos the Gibson Custom Firebird '63 from the Murphy Lab, and says at 6:16:
This is my new favorite guitar in the world i think. in the world this is my new favorite guitar. Spanky too, man, oh man. There are no dead spots on any of these guitars. And that's just i mean it comes down to craftsmanship, and even with great craftsmanship, sometimes it just happens. You took the time to make a spectacular guitar. I'm not just saying that either. You definitely brought it. I mean on top of that, you made it so playable and so enjoyable and so fun. It's inspiring ,you know. A great guitar makes you just not want to put it down, and i never want to put this guitar down.
