Jonny Buckland's Guitars
From Matt McGinn, Jonny's guitar tech, through Coldplay's "Oracle" Q&A service:
"I can't remember where he picked it up - maybe Chicago? - but, if you're interested, it's a '72 Thinline from about 1974. It's half hollow - so, semi-semi acoustic, I guess - and has a lot of really nice gouges in it from being thoroughly thwacked. All still original, as far as I know. I reckon it must've cost him about 2000 US dollars but God knows what it'd be worth now. You can get a pretty good Fender copy/reissue these days for a lot less, off the peg, that might turn out lovely after a few years of playing it. That's the thing, any old guitar can be amazing if you love it enough."
Sold on Reverb.com on June 26, 2014.

In 2003, Jonny stated that he played a 'Vintage Fender Jazzmaster' in one of Coldplay's self-published eZines.
One of Coldplay's 2003 ezines lists 'Reissue Fender Jaguar' amongst Jonny's equipment.
Throughout this video Jonny can be seen playing his Vintage 1972 Fender Telecaster Thinline, that he acquired in 2002. Matt McGinn, Jonny's guitar technician answered a question about the guitar on the band's website in 2002. He said, "Well, that one (which is called 'Sunny' - they've all got names) is Jonny's total favourite. He's had it about ten years and has played it on most of the albums and tours since Rush Of Blood - it's actually the one he's holding if you look at the band photo from that album cover. There's just something about the two of them that seems to click. It sounds amazing, for a start. And he's really happy when he's playing it, as you might have noticed." Jonny still has and actively uses the guitar today.
In this performance of their song "Magic", Coldplay's Jonny Buckland can be seen playing a Bill Nash S-63 guitar. 2:39 into the video provides a good look at it.
In this photo we see Jonny playing an aged white Nash JM-63 Jazzmaster with a stunning maple neck and fretboard. Jonny’s been a fan of Bill Nash guitars for some time now, but only began visibly using their Jazzmaster models on 2016’s “A Head Full of Dreams” tour
For the A Head Full of Dreams album, Johnny has begun using this Squier Stratocaster in television performances of the song "Adventure Of A Lifetime". It can be seen thoughtout this video.
In this entry from Coldplay's blog from November 2013, a fan asks why Jonny Buckland switched to playing Fender Telecasters on nearly every song, whereas at the start of the Mylo Xyloto Tour he used primarily Stratocasters. Matt McGinn, Jonny's guitar tech, responds, "In the end we reverted to the Tele's - 'Sunny', his fave, in particular - for most tunes, except Violet Hill (on which he's always played a 1974 Les Paul Deluxe) and God Put A Smile Upon Your Face."
You can see the '74 Les Paul used on Violet Hill at 1:28 in this video of Coldplay performing live in Tokyo in 2009.
The original entry can be seen here.
In this photo from Coldplay's 2003 eZine, one can see the Gibson 335 listed in Jonny's equipment list.
In this photo, Jonny Buckland can be seen playing a Fender '72 Telecaster Deluxe. This guitar, because of it's likeness to Jonny's favourite (Fender '72 Telecaster Thinline), has been used many times by Jonny.
Jonny Buckland uses a Nash Wayfarer guitar, as confirmed by Nash Guitars when they shared that it was custom-built for him. This is further evidenced by a photo posted by Coldplay on Instagram, showing Buckland with the guitar during rehearsals for #ColdplayJordan.
At 2:08 of this video, Jonny can be seen playing a Martin 000C-15. Both he and Chris Martin used these guitars for the A Rush of Blood to the Head tour in 2003.
Jonny Buckland is seen/heard playing the Fender Jerry Donahue Signature Telecaster in the Madrid dressing room during Coldplay's Mylo Xyloto tour, which he's had since Parachutes era. The guitar has a bound body in translucent sapphire blue, a rarely used finish on Fender guitars
Throughout this video, Jonny Buckland can be seen playing a 1972 Fender Telecaster Deluxe with a natural finish. It can be seen particularly well from 2:47 to 3:05.
Throughout this video, Jonny can be seen playing 1972 Telecaster Thinline in Walnut.
At 0:54 in this live Coldplay video, Jonny Buckland can be seen playing his black 1972 Fender Telecaster Thinline.
In 2010, the guitar was actioned off for a charity fundraiser and won by Jason DeBord. This detailed article about the guitar and it's auction says, "This was Jonny’s main guitar all through the X&Y and Viva tours. Drenched, scorched and thoroughly vibed. He hesitated to sell it as it means a lot to him (he literally kissed it goodbye after the photo was taken)."
Jonny can be seen using a Guild F-50 throughout this video of an acoustic rendition of "Lovers In Japan" together with Chris Martin. The guitar can be seen particularly well from 0:36 to 0:43.
"Jonny's guitar used during the Parachutes / Rush Of Blood era of touring." - From Coldplay's end of decade clearout sale catalog where they auctioned off their gear.

At 0:30 in this video, Jonny Buckland can be seen playing a red Fender Jaguar.
In this video of Coldplay performing an acoustic version of "A Message", Jonny Buckland's acoustic guitar is a Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Studio in a natural finish. If you pause the video between 6:47-6:49, it can be seen that the headstock looks to say "Gibson". Additionally, the fretboard inlays, saddle, and the pickguard going to a point all match the details of a Gibson Songwriter Deluxe Studio.
Jonny uses a Gibson Les Paul Standard in performances of Violet Hill on the Viva La Vida tour and Mylo Xyloto tour, he can be seen using it at 0.25 of this video
In this performance of Til Kingdom Come, Jonny can be seeing using a Gretsch Country Gentleman. This is quite rare for him to use this guitar for that song, since his main guitar for that song is his Fender Telecaster Thinline.
In this photo from the Mylo Xyloto sessions we see Buckland recording with a Moog E1. This guitar is known for its unique onboard sustaining technology and was likely used in creating the soaring lead tone on Princess of China.
Throughout this 2014 TV special, taken highlighting the creation of Coldplay’s “Ghost Stories” album, we can see Johnny with what looks to be an early 1960s, pre-CBS Fender Mustang in Olympic white.
In this image, taken from Coldplay’s Christmas Lights video, we see Jonny performing with a single-pickup Gibson ES-125 in sunburst
