Moby's Gear
In this photo of Moby's studio from 2010, you can see a Mesa Boogie Electra Dyne Combo next to an Epiphone guitar.
Everything Is Right
As I browsed through the sleeve notes on Moby's albums I noticed that the gear lists documented in the 1995 release Everything Is Wrong are almost identical to his current setup. Could it really be possible that this successful musician had no spare cash to spend on new studio gear during the last four years?
"From Everything Is Wrong until now I've bought a vocoder and a new sampler and that's about it. On the one hand I'd love to get a bunch of new equipment, but on the other hand there's something to be said for working with equipment with which I'm comfortable. I'm thinking that at some point I will actually switch over and get a full Pro Tools setup and start doing things more in the computer, but for this record I didn't feel compelled to do that."

This Voce Spin II is part of the private collection of Moby.
The new SPIN II is the successor to our highly regarded SPIN rotary speaker simulator. It accurately duplicates the effect of a rotating speaker cabinet "mic’d" with up to four microphones (two for the horn and two for the lower rotor).
The SPIN II utilizes the same rotor simulator technology used in the original SPIN and the V3 Tone Wheel Organ Synthesizer. However, some important changes and improvements were made. The SPIN II is an effects pedal version of the SPIN that utilizes a simple and intuitive user interface allowing you to start using it as fast as you can plug in the power and audio cables. Features unique to the SPIN II are foot-switches for bypass and rotor speed, controls to adjust acceleration, slow and fast rotor speeds, a selectable input level allowing SPIN II to be used with guitars as well as keyboards and an adjustable output level for interfacing to sensitive guitar amps.
Other features include stereo outputs, small footprint, and direct AC line power.
This particular SPIN II tests perfectly with minimal signs of wear.

The Chamberlin Rhythmate has been touted as the first drum machine ever produced in numbers. It's estimated that only ten were made by Harry Chamberlin in his garage back in 1949.

The Rhythmate has a built-in amp and 12" speaker. Essentially a tube amp.

In a photo of Moby's workspace, a Linn Electronics LinnDrum is prominently featured, indicating its place in his collection of drum machines.
