Reid’s guitar rig had a much more modern vibe than the other players on the tour. In addition to his signature Parker guitar and Roland processor, it featured a Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier with a matching 4x12 loaded with Celestion Vintage 30s and mic’d with Sennheiser e906 (left) and a Shure SM57 (right).
An over-the-shoulder view of Reid controlling his VG-99 with a Roland FC-300 MIDI Foot Controller. Also pictured is an Eventide PitchFactor and a Roland expression pedal.
The signal goes from the Parker's hex pickup to the VG-99 to a DOD Passive Mixer, which splits the direct guitar out from the VG-99 to a Zoom G3 (used for auto wah), a laptop with Guitar Rig Mobile Interface with programmed sounds controlled by a Roland FC-300 and Ableton Live controlled by a Keith McMillan SoftStep

I incorporate a hex pickup into my sound, so I use a VG99 guitar synth setup, and I also use Guitar Rig 3, plus a Peavey ReValver.
I also used an Eventide ModFactor and a PitchFactor, a Pefftronics Rand- O-Matic, a DigiTech Space Station, a Line 6 Filter Modeler, an SP300 to control the VG99, a GI-20 guitar synth, and an Axon 50 interface to control soft synths on an Apple laptop.

You can hear the soft synths on the song “Method” on the new album. I used the UVI Workstation to activate eight-bit samples for the noisy/glitchy stuff at the end of that song.
I also use the Fractal Audio Axe-Fx Ultra amp- and effects-modeling unit, and lots of additional software, including IK Multimedia AmpliTube and Peavey ReValver 3, and soft synths such as Native Instruments’ Reaktor 5 and Absynth 4.

"And I’ve been involved in guitar synthesis for most of my guitar career. I had a GR-300, the GR-700, the GR-55, and it’s been fascinating to see how the technology has twisted and changed and become more acceptable."
