In this Instagram photo of Yannis holding up two of his new guitars, the one on the right (in his left hand) is a Travis Bean TB-1000s. The Instagram photo is dated May 2014.

In this article from GQ Magazine, Yannis says "I bought quite a few Travis Bean guitars that were made in the Seventies".

In the 2019 guitar.com interview, Yannis is briefly discussing his relationship with Travis Bean models, saying, “I like the fact that you feel like it’s playing you and not the other way around,” he says of his many Beans. “I like the weight of them and I like the fact that it feels like a commitment – and it doesn’t feel like a toy. It’s something that is crafted. It’s like, what’s the difference between using heavy metal cutlery and plastic? Well, I’d rather use heavy metal cutlery! It feels like that. Not in any kind of cold way, but it is definitely different. And I feel like it’s a kind of a potent guitar, y’know? It’s a commitment to play it. I like the fact that it’s ‘other’ as well, that it is different and rare. And they come from this particular era when it was viewed as being the next great evolution in guitar making and then, for whatever reason, they were kind of frozen in that time and every time you buy one, you’re essentially dipping back into that mindset of guitar playing in the 70s when they were viewed as being this futuristic evolution. So I like the romance around them as well, I guess.”

This Instagram photo posted by Yannis in November 2013 shows one of the pedals he uses is the Boss RC-20XL Loop Station. The photo is captioned, "Keepin' the blues at bay." Armed with the loop station and the Alesis SR-16 Drum Machine (also pictured), as well as a green semi-hollow guitar, headphones, and a mic, it appears Yannis is doing some solo work, writing and recording riffs, or just jamming out by himself.

Yannis Philippakis posts a pic to Instagram that reads, "New axes." The one he is holding in his right hand (left in the photo) is a Gibson ES-347, according to the badge at the bottom of the headstock. His particular model does not appear to have a pickup selector switch below the pickguard, as some ES-347 models have. Given the Gibson ES-347 was in production from the late 70s to the late 80s, his model is one from within this range.

"The Foals have added Strymon units to their touring pedal boards. Both guitarists (Jimmy Smith and Yannis Philipapkis) now have Timeline's in their armoury…

"I really can't say enough good things about the timelines. They’ve replaced every other delay on both the guitarsts’ boards! Amazing."

(Reuben Gotto - Tech Manager)"

“For me, I really like the Audio Kitchen Big Trees pedal for overdrive,” adds Yannis. “I use that both live and in the studio, just to have that natural drive. And I also just like to crank preamps up into the mixing desk. I used the Chandler Germanium Pre Amp and we were just cranking that until it broke up.

Chief workhorses in the effects pedal department included Audio Kitchen's The Big Trees valve preamp; OTO's BIM 12-bit delay unit, BAM Space Generator and BOUM Warming Unit; along with a Klon KTR Centaur overdrive, MWFX's Judder analogue sampler/repeater; and Hologram's Dream Sequence pitch-shifter/sequencer. In addition there was also much use of a Maestro Echoplex and Roland Space Echo for delay, and the Eventide H3000 Harmonizer.

Meanwhile, a single bass rig was shared between Edwin Congreave and Yannis Philippakis, comprising an Ampeg SVT for the miked sound and Zod Audio's ID DI. "It's a guy out in America who makes them," Shaw says of the latter. "But they've got the biggest, fattest, warmest sound I've ever heard in a bass DI. Yannis would come up with lots of ideas for bass. He's a bit like a riff machine. You sort of wind him up and watch him go and he'll just come up with 10 different ideas. He attacks the bass a lot harder than Edwin, who tends to play with fingers."
