Squier VM Series is Nothing But Good!
This mustang has an excellent tone no matter the combination of the pickups! I has really warm Duncan-Designed (stay with me) single coils that don't get too very twangy, while still keeping the good brightness. The body is not awfully heavy and it's very well balanced between that and the comfy baseball bat neck. Definitely a quality guitar that you can find without having to break the bank!
My only complaint is the bridge, which I'll definitely be swapping out to a standard Mustang bridge, rather than this little thing. It buzzes quite a bit and the screws like to walk themselves out. I expect most people who buy these for gigging to do this same modification, then it'll be an even better guitar!

I love, love this guitar!
I remember when I walked into a guitar store and tried this beaut out of my hands! The glossy neck felt wonderful, the sound was the original "mustang-y" signature sound, easy to play, and I enjoyed playing it for a couple of minutes! And when I took this little on at home, I knew it had to be a special collection. Everything about it is just perfect! Solid red colour, beautiful white pearloid pickups, smooth thin neck, no body contour/belly cut, everything of this guitar resembled the good ol' 1965 mustang.
Only the problem I have with it though is the cheap plastic tuners and the bridge seemed a little bit 'off' in the placement. But other than that, it's amazing!! :-)

You can't beat the price
The fact that the Squier VM/CV series guitars are sub 500$ is absolutely astounding. This guitar stacks up with my American Fenders. It plays extremely well through my JC120 and my JCM900 with layers of fuzz. I highly recommend picking one of these up!

Edgy sounding guitar for edgy rock bands
Despite this being a short scale guitar, I've found it incredibly easy to play. The tone is great, you can get warm jazzy sounds and brassy obnoxious leads, and both handle distortion incredibly well. The small size makes transporting it easy, and the bridge prevents buzzing, making all of the strings sound nice when played. Also, this guitar just looks plain awesome.

Love the mustang, I just wish my hands weren't too big for it :-( Sonic Blue with Tort shell pickguard is one of the best color combinations on a 'stang (only rivaled by ice blue metallic with a gold anodized guard), kudos to your taste....

The Retro
I have this guitar for my indie band and it plays beautifully. Don't be fooled that it is a Squier, the Vintage Modified and Classic Vibe models are the top and people use it as a workhorse. The only thing that bothers me are the saddles on the bridge, they are a bit loose and when the guitar is played aggressively, the strings will buzz. The paint is also a bit thin and the hardware seems a little cheap but hell why would I say this for its price point. Overall, it serves me well on stage and the great thing that made me buy this is the tone.

the saddle issue is inherent to the mustang design... even vntage ones do it.... Fender offset guitars suffer from wonky bridge/vibrato designs

Thanks for the added info :) @jimmarchi1

sure... Mastery makes the best retrofit solution, not sure if they make a mustang bridge that doesn't rattle, but you should look it up...

Modified with Seymour Duncan hot rails in the bridge, tune-o-matic bridge, fender vintage style tuners, and the tail piece is completely locked down. Main guitar for any raised tunings but mianly used in standard
Is another work horse, is rock solid but for me doesn't stay in tune with the floating bridge functioning. Modified with Seymour Duncan hot rails in the bridge, tune-o-matic bridge, fender vintage style tuners, and the tail piece is completely locked down. Main guitar for any raised tunings but mianly used in standard

Nice for a grunge or even a Jazz guitar player on a budget, nice pickups for distortion. The bridge/ Trem can be a problem sometimes
This is a really easy guitar to play, the C- shape profile is nice for moderate guitar playing speed. My personal favorite part for this guitar is the pickup selection. The pickup switches allow wide variation in sound for the guitar, it is really nice to mix it up every once and a while. The bridge can make a scratchy sound if not set up properly, and the tremolo changes tuning when used, so I don't use it that often.

Mustangs rock
I love this mustang. the short scale is very nice and comfortable to play, and i like the phase switching method of switching between the pickups. It's very light, so great for long playing situations. only reason I knocked a star off the rating is because it's not availabe left handed, so I had to flip it over. it's definitely my most played guitar

Mustang.
Ironically this is one of the most vintage accurate mustang's available. I recently purchased this guitar and used it in a recording. It sounds and plays amazing. The neck is nice, and overall this guitar is probably more true to the original idea of the mustang than its current fender counterpart.
