Yvette Young's Gear
Yvette is signed by Strandberg and represents their guitars with a custom model of their Boden 7.
Yvette played with a Vox ac30 c2 amp on one of her live performances at NAMM 2017.
I need it. Although I’d say I get my sound, that kind of distorted break-up, mostly from the interaction between my pickups and my amp. I play through a Vox AC30 on stage and it breaks up so nicely with my pickups. I set the master volume so that, if I want to play lightly, it’ll be clean, but if I dig in a little bit, it’ll break up and get dirty. So I really rely on that. Sometimes, if you do half-step stuff, it sounds really gnarly. I love that grossness.
Yvette Young uses the Orange Rocker 32 as her primary amplifier, as seen in a photo on Imgur.
My favorite pedal on my board right now, and it’s kind of hard to not overuse it, is the Instant Lo-Fi Junky Vexter from ZVex. It’s great for adding warble and modulation to your sound so it sounds a little dated. I love stuff that sounds nostalgic; that’s why I like a lot of indie music, because some of it has that beachy, old vibe.

Clearly playing one.
It’s interesting because I started on an RG a long time ago. It just didn’t really suit my style but I feel like the Talman is something I can really relate to and it does inspire me. It’s not like a metal guitar.
The pickups in the Talman inspire really cool melodies, and I feel like I soar on that guitar, both physically and speed-wise, because the necks are so nice and thin.
I asked Yvette what strings she used during the VIP Q&A session when I saw covet recently. She said that she uses the d'addario 12 set and now on her Instagram story she posts a picture of the exact set she uses for her tunings which is the d'addario 13 to 60 set.
