The Hello-Thread: Please Allow Me To Introduce Myself 👋
You will be a great addition to the board. You pretty much have your pick of gear and drummers. If you wanted to, you could probably have a 6,000 gear score in a week.

No "Drums & Percussion" Main Topic?
Who needs a drummer when you have a bassist :)
We just haven't had a lot of drummers in the past. You will notice almost every drummer on equipboard has less than 5 items submitted to them. It's just a community that has yet to find us so far.

Hello Tino. Can't wait to see what you end up adding to your board.

I enjoy a dark, earthy, coffee/chocolate flavor to my dark beers, but this is my new favorite all around beer. Newcastle has almost a honey quality to it. It's a very round flavor. It's a bit sweet but not overwhelmingly. I find Newcastle is a compromise between tasteless American domestics and rich European brews. I've had it for breakfast and dinner, with and without meals, different temperatures. I just sniffed the empty bottle I have next to me and it even smells pleasant after it's old and dry.

I came across Newcastle Brown Ale. I'm digging it. It tastes good warm as well as cold. I'm going to drink this beer a while.

There is one accent that I find incredibly sexy and what I believe English SHOULD sound like when spoken properly. I tried hunting this accent down years ago and based on what I discovered, I referred to it as "Oxfordshire English". I recently searched again for this accent and I think now people are calling it plain old Oxford accent. I know a couple of you guys were English... and I am realizing now that I have not seen you two post in a while (Red Headed 15 year old and 30'ish married guy) I'm terrible with names.
What creates this accent? Is it just anyone from that region or is it taught in all schools across the island?
As an example, I will use actresses for what I like and dislike.
Emma Watson - This is Oxford yeah?
Penelope Keith - Perfect. When you hear this accent as a Brit, what does it tell you about the person?
Emma Thompson - This is Oxford as well? Sounds strict and well pronounced, but a little more jagged than Emma Watson's.
Helena Bonham Carter - Close to what I like, but with some laziness in the vowels
Alan Rickman - More proper than Helena's but with little chutney ends here and there.
Spice Girls - All their accents are offensive to my ears. Very throaty T's and D's. Vowels are VERY dragged out as if someone were pinching their cheeks together while they spoke. Sporty spice is by far the worst, followed by Scary, and the best of them being Posh, but "ih ainh puh-feck"

I discovered yesterday that there is an anime version titled, "Jungle Book En". It's terrible. Every Hindi you-tuber it seems has an upload of it on their channel. I was more shocked to find that it's THE jungle book that a lot of people remember as their childhood version. Shocked me. The animation is close Lupin the 3rd and the music is horrible and muddy, like Dragonball audio.
It irritates me that these films are made though. They are wasting money and the time of everyone involved making a copy of a copy. The Brit that plays Dr. Strange is Sher Kahn. He could be making a sequel to Dr. Strange and have that film out in a years time, a film that I'm sure he will be much more known for being in than Jungle Book Re-Duex.
I forgot to mention, the man cub owns a Boomerang in this version. A flippin' boomerang. Now guess how he uses it.... go on...
He hits animals on the head with it like a club.

I like the sound of a Stratocaster but the feel of a Les Paul
Find or make what they call a "Paulcaster". Three single coil pickups on a Les Paul body. I'm sure it's what you are wanting.
For ease of finding one prebuilt, you may want to try the Les Paul Jr they made with Single Coils. Maybe find a used Gibson Marauder.
A cheaper route would be to build a custom guitar with the Les Paul body and neck with have 3 single coil pup holes cut out.

In 2018, we're going to get another Jungle Book. It's going to have celebrities voicing the animals, with a mixture of live and CGI animals on screen with a real Indian boy.
WE JUST GOT THIS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate Hollywood. It's not a sequel, prequel, addition, or re-imagining. It's going to be the exact same thing we just saw in 2016. Exactly. What's the point?

Well... the rumor well is running dry and becoming more and more ridiculous. Roose Bolton is a vampire, Stannis will become the Night's King, R+L=J+M... some are so small and petty, like dragon glass being dragon poop, that makes me wonder why it was ever rumored to begin with.
The blacksmith boy is coming back. Plenty of eye witnesses that he's in Ireland with the crew, and that makes me happy. The girl who plays Arya tweeted some stuff that make it sound like her character is about to be very badass.
A lot of people are wanting Jon Snow to marry D and join the continents together. That sounds boring and too close to a happy ending for me. The only people I want to see on the throne are Little Finger and Tyrion Lannister. I'm guessing Arya is going to die before the end of the last season, Sansa is probably going to kill herself or be killed, and fingers crossed that Jaime kills his sister in Season 6.
I still haven't read any of the books. :/

An Equipboard scavenger hunt! Artist gear missing proof...
Send him the hair out of your brush. That's a great gift because it's so unusual, no one will be able to figure out if you intended it as a joke or a threat.

I've always had a chip on my shoulder towards classically trained musicians when I was younger. I felt that if you had to be taught something, it was naturally within you. I do appreciate having one around in a band, but I won't ever teach myself chord names and such because I feel for what I do, I don't need it. It also takes the joy out of playing for me. It becomes math instead of art.
Occasionally another musician will tell me something that goes over my head like, "It's C# A Dm but then you redo it with a G later". This is usually a guitar player and I just tell them to play it. If I hear it, I can replicate it, and then add or take away from it as I feel it needs. It's a small language barrier but I rarely deal with it. I have noticed that a lot of the players I am around who go by chord names and such don't listen to the whole band of a song, but just the vocals and their instrument. Plenty of times where they thought the bass did exactly what the keyboard or guitar did and I'd tell them to listen to the album again :)

I don't think they would qualify. They are only on social media and they have very few followers. Their twitter feed has 2. If it's you, you can always just add items to your own equipboard though.

I'm going to Cozomel in another month. I'd like to visit parts of Europe next I think. I'm a history buff so Scandinavia and Northern Europe would take me weeks to get through.

Baritone guitars are fine, but basses they are not. I'm not a fan of these hybrid instruments like the Bass VI, the SRC6, and the Ibanez BTB33. They never do a better job than the actually instrument, so your'e left with a mediocre instrument on two fronts versus having a great instrument on one. There are things you can do on a bass that the VI is super difficult with. Slapping is a popular technique and the tight string spacing of the VI make's it difficult to perform. Popping the highs won't generate the right tone you want either. The people that I have known that owned these types of instruments never grow the same way they would have with an actual guitar or bass. The guitar players with an SRC6 still play and write like a guitar player and cannot deviate from their style. People that pick 2 legit instruments though always add an extra spectrum to their writing and playing. If you want a pizza, get a pizza. If you want salad, get some salad. Don't buy some disgusting salad pizza.
There are certain bass brands I like more because they have signature tones that aren't replicated. Spectors for example all have a distinct growl, more so than Warwick/Framus even, that you can identify in records. For my ears, it's the most recognizable sounding bass on cd's due to the growl coming in hard on the lower frequencies and the higher ones being really clean and bell-like. They also are one of the few companies that nail what a low B should feel and sound like. I'm not a fan of Fenders however, I do recognize their ability to replicate the tones of other brands with the help of pedals. Rickenbackers I feel sound too thin. Dean's are weak instruments and always lose tone tests against ESP's and such. Ibanez basses are lightweight, inexpensive, and have their own toneprint as well but it's not as strong as Spector for ID reasons. Ibanezes have missing mids to my ears and the $200 ones sound a lot like their $2,000 ones.
If you were in the market for a bass that you wouldn't grow out of, I would tell you to buy a Spector Legend 5 string. They are very decent instruments as they are with the 35" scale, highly sculpted front and back bodies, and a neck that is thick front to back but thin side to side, which should feel somewhat like a Gibson/Peavey/ESP style of 6 string neck. When you do want to improve upon it, upgrade the pickups and/or preamp and the nut, then you're done. Bass runs $800 brand new which means you can have a hotrod of a bass for under $1,200. Now that I am playing with mine with different sound techs, the Spector is EVERY technicians favorite sounding bass and they say dialing it into their boards is easier than the other locals' basses.

True. The gauge hasn't really much of a tone change, but the reason I've stayed on .11 (and soon .12) for this long is comfort. I forgot about tone long ago... It just feels nice to have sch thick strigs that still bend pretty well.
Buy a bass :)

When people say they like a band but actually mean to say, "I like one of their songs enough to sing along to the chorus when it's on the radio".
10yalmost 10 years ago
Uhhhh. Never-mind. That $h1#s too expensive. 200 bucks for a starter kit and you have to provide air-conditioning and heating.

I want to start an ant colony. I just watch a video from a guy who grows tons of different species and colonies. It looks righteous. I always wanted an ant farm as a kid and never had one.

HELP! looking for a singer for one song...
You should put up a bit of the song so they can sing if it's in their range
10yalmost 10 years ago
nah, that's small band, dizzy/bird type jazz... big bands are totally different
your attitude is like if I said that in order play every style of metal on guitar you just needed to grow your hair out, bring a bottle of jagermeister and an ego problem
This is EXACTLY how I learned to play metal sir.

Not I. Lubbock rarely gets anyone I would want to see come through town and driving 8 hours for a show doesn't appeal to me anymore. I'd really like to see Metallica once so if they end up touring soon, I will try and go to that.

Why are so many live preformances becoming karaoke these days?
I think a lot of people are afraid of failure. Editing the music elsewhere and have it cut to the right tempo and increments allows them to play the music without having to actually play the music live.

I had to borrow a grand from my dad to get it all going. Started classes today but I'm still a little offended by the whole thing, especially since every professor I have told this to hasn't ever heard of this before.

Best Budget Melodic/Progressive Metal Amp
The problem your in is Prog metal uses a LOT of effects. Petrucci for certain owns every dial and knob on earth and on top of it all, he uses an Axe FX. He uses a lot of Mesa Boogie. I might start there. You get what you pay for with tone. Maybe look for a $1000 Mesa tube head that's used for 600.

Years ago, I was saving up for a 2 week trip to New Zealand. I wanted to do the whole Lord of the Rings tour and maybe do some camping. Spent the money on mistakes.
