Boomerang Musical Products is a Dallas, Texas-area company founded in 1995 by Lee Hardesty and Mike Nelson, two longtime friends, guitarists, and engineers. The idea for the original Boomerang Phrase Sampler originated in 1989 when Nelson searched for a quality looping device and found nothing on the market. Hardesty, who had designed crossover and phase alignment systems at touring sound company Showco Inc., brought the electronics expertise, while Nelson, a programmer at automated lighting company Varilite Inc., contributed software and ergonomic design. The company was sold to Alex Kova in April 2017.

Boomerang is best known for the Phrase Sampler line of looper pedals, which debuted as one of the earliest purpose-built looping devices for musicians. The flagship Boomerang III Phrase Sampler offers four independent loops, multiple playing modes (Serial, Serial Sync, Sync, and Free), up to eight minutes of mono recording time at 48kHz, and a volume roller for real-time loop level control. The product line also includes the Side Car controller accessory and the Boombox portable speaker.
