Founded by Sean Michael in White Lake, Michigan, Lovepedal is a boutique guitar effects company that has been producing hand-built analog pedals since the early 2000s. Sean Michael began designing pedal circuits in the early 1990s, driven by a desire for classic amp tones that mass-produced rack units couldn't deliver. His first breakthrough was the FAB 50, a single-knob design that set the tone for the company's "less is more" philosophy. The brand went on to produce some of the most sought-after boutique overdrives on the market, including the Eternity — used by Andy Summers of The Police and Richard Fortus of Guns N' Roses — and the COT 50 ("Church of Tone"), a single-knob bias-controlled overdrive. In 2009, Lovepedal introduced the Mini Line, a series of ultra-compact pedals that found favor with touring professionals.
In 2013, Lovepedal merged with Hermida Audio Technology, taking over the manufacturing and global distribution of Alfonso Hermida's acclaimed Zendrive overdrive pedal. The Zendrive, originally designed to replicate the sound of a Dumble amplifier, has been praised by guitarists including Robben Ford, Vince Gill, and Sonny Landreth. Under the Lovepedal umbrella, the Hermida line expanded to include the Dover Drive, EPH3 tape delay, and Reverb 3. Other notable Lovepedal models include the Amp Eleven, Purple Plexi, Tchula, Rubber Chicken, and 200lbs of Gold. Artists such as Billy Corgan, Lenny Kravitz, Scott Henderson, David Torn, and Jonathan Wilson have also used Lovepedal products.
Lovepedal has 112 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Overdrive Effects Pedals, Fuzz Effects Pedals, and Boost Effects Pedals. Their gear is featured by 52 artists, with the strongest followings in Rock, Pop, and Folk, World, & Country. Notable users include Rob Chapman, Josh Smith, and Ángel Parra. Most Lovepedal products fall in the mid-tier range — professional-grade without flagship pricing.
