Critic Reviews

DV Mark DV ‘Raw Dawg’ EG Review

guitar.com

The DV Mark Raw Dawg EG delivers impressive clean tones in a compact design, making it a versatile choice for players in need of a lightweight amp. Its solid-state output and minimal controls promote simplicity, but this means users must rely on external pedals for overdrive, which may not appeal to everyone. While the amp excels in producing a spacious low-end and crisp highs, the onboard reverb might not suit all styles, particularly traditional blues. The lack of gain control could limit creative expression for some musicians. Overall, it's a solid option with standout features, but its limitations might deter those seeking a more versatile amp.

Reviewed: DV Mark "Raw Dawg" EG amplifier - Mixdown Magazine

mixdownmag.com.au

The DV Mark Raw Dawg EG amplifier shines with its remarkable clean tone and the warmth of its 12AX7 preamp tubes, offering versatility that can cater to various musical styles. It's positioned as a reliable alternative to pricier vintage amps, making it accessible for many musicians. However, while it excels in delivering a blank canvas for sound, some may find it lacks the aggressive character found in other models, potentially limiting its appeal for those seeking high-gain tones. Overall, the Raw Dawg EG is a dependable choice for live and studio settings, reflecting solid engineering and thoughtful design.

DV Mark Raw Dawg Eric Gales Signature Head

guitarinteractivemagazine.com

The DV Mark Raw Dawg EG delivers a remarkable tonal experience, perfectly suited for pedal enthusiasts with its clean and warm sound. Its lightweight design and powerful solid-state power stage make it a traveling musician's dream. While the onboard reverb is praised for its clarity and depth, the lack of speaker emulation on the preamp out is a notable drawback. Still, this amp shines for both studio and live settings, making it a solid choice for players looking for versatility without sacrificing quality.

At 21:42, Cory states that for that tour he landed on the DV Mark Eric Gales signature Raw Dawg, which can also be seen in the video. Cory runs two of these on the same settings as a true stereo rig into two separate cabs. He also says that his are a custom tweak job with a modified EQ on them.

I'm pretty sure that he has used them for quite some time, since a DV Mark amp can also be seen in the First Avenue show in November 2019.
