Evans Hybrid Review - Drumhead Authority

drumheadauthority.com

The Evans Hybrid Coated Snare Drumhead is a powerhouse for hard-hitting drummers, boasting extreme durability and a crisp, clear attack. Its unique fiber weave withstands heavy use, making it ideal for metal and high-volume genres, yet it remains surprisingly sensitive for lighter playing. Versatility shines as it handles various tuning levels, from punchy low ends to sharp rimshots. While pricier than standard options, its longevity justifies the cost, potentially saving money for frequent players. The only downside? Its focus on initial attack may not suit those seeking prolonged sustain. Overall, a robust choice for drummers demanding resilience and dynamic range.

At 4:40 of this video clip provided by Gear Gods and from their "RIGGED" series, Nick Pierce, 2016 Drummer of Unearth shows off his Tama Starclassic Performer Bubinga/Birch 4 pc Shell Pack Transparent PS42S.

"Tom sizes are 10, 12, 16, and 22x20 kick."

"Great sounding drums. The mix of the bubinga and birch gives it a great pop. The initial attack right off of the drums is incredible. They're perfect for metal. However they engineered these things, they did it for just what I do.It's an incredible sounding kit. They are really big sounding. They have a real quick sustain. They get into the mix and get out right when you want them."

"So, for heads on the drums I'm using Evans EC2's for batters all across the top and then on bottoms I'm using Evans G1's. For the Snare drum, that's a Tama SLP 13x7 G Maple Snare. I've got an Evans Hybrid on top.
