    Source
  • It's suggested that Remo's recent quality control and materials might not match past standards, prompting some users to switch brands.

    Source

Other

  • Mixing brands, like using an Evans o-ring on a Remo head, is humorously compared to mixing different cymbal brands but isn't a serious cause of issues.

  • Using Remo Emperors on toms with coated Remo Ambassadors as resonant heads can achieve a warm tone with reduced resonance and a "papery" punch.

Remo Controlled Sound Clear Review - Drumhead Authority

drumheadauthority.com

The Remo Controlled Sound Clear Black Dot Drumheads offer a bright, full sound with good projection and durability, making them a great choice for toms or snare drum batter heads. The single ply construction and center control dot provide focus and control overtones, enhancing attack and sustain without excessive ringing. However, they're less ideal for brush use, and the sustain might be slightly less than other resonant heads due to the dot. Overall, they balance responsiveness and durability well, catering to drummers seeking a controlled yet vibrant sound.

These are great durable drumheads for playing rock.

The Remo Controlled Sound Clear black dot are great durable drumheads for playing rock, with a controlled focused sound with great projection. I use one on the batter and one on the resonant side of my toms, they are just like the old Premier Powerplay black dot drumheads, and look great on your kit.
