Rare, amazing guitar
I don't own one of these, but I REALLY wish I did! I've only ever seen one in the wild; luckily it was at the home of my band's drummer (and close friend) back in about '97 - '98, so I had a chance to put it through its paces. Hamer's parent company destroyed the brand's reputation with the "Hamer Slammer" series in the 90's, but the older guitars from the 70's and 80's were of impeccable quality - this model is a great example. The materials, build quality, playability, and attention to detail were on par with other high-end US manufacturers of the day (and better in some cases - that's why Gibson sued them ;) ). Everything about this guitar was incredible. Comfortably balanced with none of the neck-heavy feel some other V's have, and the neck.... OH THE NECK!!!! Have you ever picked up a guitar and found that it plays itself as soon as you get your hands near it? This is one of those. Since it was a Priest signature model, it even has the Kahler whammy bridge! To this day, I wish I had had the money to make an offer to its owner. I would absolutely love to get my hands on one of these again.
