At 59:05 in this video, Joe notes that he played a Hohner bass that was licensed by Steinberger. Judging by other videos and photos of him playing with RKL in the late 80's it appears to be a Red Hohner B2 model. It looks like he covered the Hohner logo with some sort of tribal art sticker and also two Thrasher Magazine stickers at another time.
Gastón "Moreira" Gonçalves used a Hohner B2 4-string right-handed bass from the 1980s until 1997. This instrument was prominently featured in live performances and was used during the studio recording of "Big Yuyo." The proof of this can be seen in the image provided on Equipboard.
