underrated
Lots of good sounds and articulations, very dry, so you'll have to add at least some reverb and compression to it (there's built in ones). Tiny footprint, so it even runs on a toaster.

Decent Sounds
The original Miroslav Philharmonik comes with Miroslav Philharmonik 2. Considering the original was released in the late 90's and the sounds are as good as they are today color me impressed. That being said it's a bit disappointing the successor didn't obsolete many of sounds here. As a result earning an extra star versus my review on MP2.

Decent quality samples
A simple orchestral vst with a nice variation of orchestral instruments and selections.Fair price.

"For strings, we have a synthesizer called Philharmonik, which I think is the best one for strings. It sounds live, and that's important." at 15:37 into this In the Studio with Future Music video.
In this video Bonobo shows how he made kiara. During the string parts he clearly pulls up the miroslav philharmonik plugin. Although for the actual song kiara he probably used real string players, this still proves that he owns and uses the plugin.
At minute 15.33 Deniz says: " these strings are coming from a plugin called Philharmonik, it's a very nice samples library".
The composer calls the VSL library "a huge leap forward sound-wise, even though I still can't get it to work properly." He also uses the orchestral libraries of Peter Siedlaczek and of Miroslav Vitous ("great all-rounder, but a little too clean sometimes"), as well as Kirk Hunter's string library ("great sound, but very scrappy programming"). While these libraries are good enough for string and orchestral mock-ups in demos and for most film and TV work, Richter prefers to use real instruments on his albums. Similarly, few of the samples that make it onto his albums are canned. All outdoor environmental recordings on The Blue Notebooks are the real thing, recorded by him using DACS in-ear binaural mics.
