Description

Step back in time with the 1978 (USA) Fender P-Bass—a true classic that embodies the spirit of an era when music was raw and electrifying. This vintage gem comes with a history as vibrant as its sound, having been cherished by both local legends and famous Nashville players alike.

Crafted with a resonant ash body, this P-Bass delivers a rich, full-bodied tone that resonates with every pluck. Its maple neck and fingerboard offer a smooth playing experience, while the classic "C" shaped neck fits comfortably in your hand, inviting long jam sessions. The original pickups, though rewired to keep up with the times, capture that quintessential bass growl that defined a generation of music.

With nearly five decades of life behind it, this instrument has gracefully weathered the years, showcasing a unique character through its finish checking and edge wear. Yet, the frets remain in excellent condition, ensuring it plays as beautifully as it looks. Whether you're looking to add a piece of musical history to your collection or seeking a reliable workhorse for your next gig, this P-Bass is ready to deliver.

  • Classic "C" shaped neck
  • Original pickups with updated wiring
  • 34" scale length
  • 1 5/8" nut width

In the article "Corrosion Of Conformity's Mike Dean: “It’s all in the hands and in your dedication and connection to the creativity of the universe”" by Ian Glasper on Musicradar.com, Mike Dean tells that he used to have a 1978 Fender P-Bass, which got stolen on Christmas Eve 1993:

I have some Sadowsky Jazz copies that are very comfortable, but sometimes you need a Precision or Precision-derived bass to really get the low end across. My 1978 Fender P-Bass got stolen on Christmas Eve 1993, and that was the ultimate; I really need to replace that.
