Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Orange CR100BXT Bass Amp.

Build quality

  • It's noted that Orange amps are built like tanks, providing a more robust feel compared to Hartke, which some find flimsy.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • The Orange CR100BXT lacks an additional speaker-out option, limiting expansion possibilities compared to the Hartke's disconnectable speaker.

    Source
  • The amp's 100W power may struggle to compete with loud drummers during rehearsals, indicating it might not be ideal for all band settings.

    Source
  • The CR100BXT emits a notably dark tone, which is accentuated when the gain is turned all the way up, offering a gritty sound suitable for metal genres.

    Source

Comparisons

  • The Orange is quieter than the Hartke but louder than the Fender Rumble 60, making it a middle-ground choice for volume.

    Source
  • Guitar amps, especially tube models, can be significantly louder than the same wattage bass amps, suggesting a need for more wattage in bass setups.

    Source

Value and pricing

  • The Orange CR100BXT is cheaper than the Hartke, offering a more budget-friendly option with similar functionalities.

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • Ideal for small gigs, the Orange's 15" speaker moves more air than a 12", enhancing sound presence in band settings.

    Source
  • It's noted that the DI-out is suitable for gigging in small to medium venues, allowing the amp to be used primarily as a stage monitor.

    Source
  • It's been suggested that the amp works well if used with guitarists who use less than 100W amps, highlighting its suitability for certain band configurations.

    Source
  • The amp reportedly handles effects pedals well, with specific mention of the Big Muff fuzz pedal performing effectively at high gain settings without issues.

    Source

User experience

  • Some users find that positioning the amp close to the drummer helps maintain tightness in the band, as stage monitors may not relay bass effectively.

    Source
  • Some owners describe the CR100BXT as lacking versatility, making it less suitable for players who enjoy varied genres beyond metal.

    Source
  • There are mixed feelings about the tonal quality, with some users disliking it in a band setting despite enjoying it when tested individually in-store.

I actually have the CR50BX but there's no option for that.

It is a fantastic amp, plenty loud enough for any gig, anything it couldnt handle on its own could be sorted with the PA. Sound is great and the finish is awesome.
