Shredneck Z-Series Travel Bass and Low Rider Bass Neck Reviews - Bass Musician Magazine, The Face of Bass

bassmusicianmagazine.com

The Shredneck Z-Series Travel Bass is a compact powerhouse, perfect for musicians on the go. With a warm tone and impressive playability, it delivers a full-size bass experience in a 5/8 scale package. Its sturdy construction and well-padded case enhance portability, making it an excellent choice for travel. However, its weight—7.6 lbs—might surprise some, as it feels heavier than it looks. While it excels in tone and functionality, users seeking ultra-lightweight options may want to consider this factor. Overall, it's a fantastic backup or travel solution for bassists who want to keep the quality intact.

Quick Hit: Shredneck Z-Series Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

While the Shredneck Z-Series Travel Bass may not replace your primary instrument, it offers a solid, travel-friendly option with impressive build quality and surprisingly rich tones for its compact size. Weighing in at a mere 5 lbs, this short-scale bass delivers a thumpy low-end and well-defined mids, making it a reliable companion for practice and small gigs. However, the lack of pickup blending and limited tonal options may leave seasoned players wanting more. Ideal for younger musicians or as a gig backup, the Z-Series shines in portability but falls slightly short for those seeking versatility.

just a bass

It's not spectacular. They're actually pretty overpriced new. The hardware is cheap and I don't know what was going on with the nut before I replaced it but the entire nut slot is COVERED in wood glue.
