Dude, I can't remember; it was almost everything. And we used an old Fender Bassman on a lot of stuff. And an old 50-watt JCM800 and a couple of crazy boutique amps; I found these really bizarre boutique amps.

The Axe-Fx II took my live sound to a depth I could previously get only in the studio. The effects are incredible and the unit is intuitive to use.

I used a [Sennheiser] 441, that long, skinny rectangular thing that Stevie Nicks used to sing into. We just wrapped a pop filter around it and taped it up to it and yeah, just plugged it in. You can give a performance; if you want to bend over just to get a note you can do it. It's almost like you're live on stage when you sing that way. I think a lot more emotion comes across in that. And it sounded good. So it's like would it have been a more hi-fidelity situation had I used my favorite 251? Yeah; definitely. But the important thing is getting the feeling across.

"In the studio I use a lot of E-Bow. I used it for things like vocal reinforcement on Superstar Carwash [sic], like 'Close Your Eyes' and 'On the Lie.' I also did a thing where I plugged the guitar into a Leslie and played notes with an E-Bow. Then I went back and did another track and played the second note of a chord. I built chords that way, and punched components of each chord in and out. It sounded a lot like an organ. I love the sound of Leslies, but it's hard to use that shit live."
