Mark Speer's Gear

Per the posting notes of this 2018 Youtube video:

"Mark Speer tours with a single guitar: his 2001 Fender Classic Series ’70s Stratocaster. Speer hot-rodded the Strat with DiMarzio Cruiser pickups in the neck and bridge as well as extra-large frets and a TUSQ saddle and string trees. This Strat stays strung with D’Addario Chrome flatwound (.042–.032–.024–.016–.012–.010) strings. Amazingly, Speer has played the same (almost) round Jim Dunlop Green (.73 mm) Tortex pick for years."

While the particular guitar show here on EQUIPBOARD has a rosewood fretboard, Mark's guitar has a maple fretboard.

"On this album I also added an MXR Micro Chorus... The Micro Chorus was just for things like So We Won’t Forget, and also Pelota, just to emulate a double-course instrument. That is why I’m using chorus, to get that two-string sound."

"On this album I also added a DigiTech Whammy... The Whammy is there on the very first track, First Class, to emulate those Roy Ayers chords, man. It just adds a 5th to everything I’m playing. It is not like I’m doing divebombs. That is not really my move"

Mark Speer, a guitarist and composer, confirmed on Reddit via his personal account that he uses the DiMarzio DP188W Pro Track Pickup in both the neck and bridge positions of his guitar. He stated, "Ok so at the time I replaced those pickups, I put in the DP188 & DP188SP dimarzio into the neck & bridge positions. I coulda sworn that they were both cruisers but when I looked it up recently I found that the DP188’s are designated as the 'Pro-Track', so looks like I’ve been handing out the wrong info." This information was sourced from a comment by user TheInfamousBill (Mark Speer) on Reddit.
