In the documentary "The Misanthrope" they used a Rat to fix some sound issues.
Nocturno Culto commented: "There was something gone horribly wrong with the recording of the snare drum. Lars, when he discovered the fault was REALLY stressed out, sweating and cursing for some time. He solved the problem with a good old fashioned RAT pedal. The EXACT moment he discovers this, is captured on film and is for all to see in The Misanthrope. You can actually see all the red markers on his screen suddenly appear".
They just posted this on Instagram, saying that this is their setup for the album they'll be working on in 2021.
Will be using this guitar for the recording sessions in 2021, as they announced on their Instagram.
You can hear this pedal on many songs of "Soulside journey", the first album od Darkthrone. It not clear if on the next albums was used but on that one it is obvious. It is very unique kind of sound and in those times it hadn't any alternative.
Ted Skjellum, known as Nocturno Culto of Darkthrone, is seen with a guitar resembling a Jackson Performer PS2 in a 1990 photo shared on Instagram. Despite the color difference, the guitar's shape and pickups match the Jackson PS2 design.
“Early in Darkthrone history, we thought every little boy’s dream was to have a Marshall stack. But those Fender amps were great. I think it was called a Performer 1000. It was a small thing but really pumped out a huge amount of sound [Laughs]. When I played with Satyricon on Nemesis Divina, both Satyr and I played only through that amp, with no boxes at all. And we also brought those amps with us on the first Satyricon tour in Europe.”
In this photo you can see him playing what looks to be a Les Paul.
In the 1991 live performance photo shared on Instagram, Ted Skjellum (Nocturno Culto) is seen playing a Gibson Explorer 1976 Limited Edition. The guitar features a distinctive darker burst finish and is equipped with metal humbuckers, aligning with his signature black metal sound.
Nocturno Culto played on this guitar in YouTube video for IKON Customs.
In a user-uploaded photo, Ted Skjellum can be seen with a WEM Clubman mk IX amplifier. Although it's challenging to distinguish between the Clubman and the Westminster models, my detailed research suggests it is indeed a Clubman.
Nocturno Culto was using Marshall Vintage Amp to record, at rehearsals and to play live.
Ted Skjellum is seen with a white Fulltone Custom Shop Tube Tape Echo, identifiable by the "Tube Tape Echo" label and Fulltone logo. He plans to use this effects processor for the new album project in 2021. The proof is a user-uploaded photo.
From the October 24, 2021 Fenriz Metal Pact offering through Patreon, a question about bass gear was answered. Fenriz was quoted,
"Bass on The Cult Is Alive - Acrtic Thunder is probably a BC Rich we bought with Necro Hell Studios in 2004"
A reply to a question about bass gear on the 10/24/21 Fenriz Metal Pact offering has Fenriz quoted as saying the bass used on the album Eternal Hails... was a Rickenbacker 4004.
Ted Skjellum uses a Marshall 4x12 Cab with JBL 12" Speakers during live performances, as seen in a photo available via Google Images.
From the October 24, 2021 Fenriz Metal Pact offering through Patreon, a question about bass gear was answered. Fenriz was quoted as saying an Epiphone SG bass was used on the album Old Star.
Solar Guitars posted about their new GC1.6NC on Facebook. The "NC" in the name is an abbreviation of "Nocturno Culto" aka Ted Skjellum's stage name - this is his signature guitar made in collaboration with Solar Guitars. In the post you can also see Ted holding the guitar. It has not been used for anything as of yet, but will probably be the new main guitar of Ted.
