The Edge's Gear
In this NPR interview with Glen Berger (author of "Song of Spiderman: The Inside Story of the Most Controversial Musical in Broadway History" and co-writer of the show), it's explained that Edge used GarageBand to demo songs for the production.
Edge can also be seen using the software briefly in the film It Might Get Loud.
At 2:37, you can clearly see this guitar, in a custom metallic green finish. It was modified from the factory version, with a Decade style neck, and hot rail pickups as opposed to the standard humbuckers (This required a new pick guard to be cut out). It was used during the Elavation for just "With or Without you", as The Edge would utilize the built-in Fernandes Sustainer, similar to his original "Infinite Guitar" used on the song's recording. This guitar was reportedly destroyed in 2002, after U2's studio flooded.
In this mini documentary about the making of Edge's signature Strat, he talks about how he played 9 different prototypes during U2's "Innocence + Experience" tour to help design and test the instrument.
The Edge has utilized the Lovetone Doppelganger phaser pedal since the Pop era, as shown in a user-uploaded photo on BlogSpot.
Since Songs of Innocence, the Edge has been using 4 of these in his rack rig.
Also, in this video by Premier Guitar (https://youtu.be/qDYfXvGuaL4) that can be clearly seen in his effects rack.
The Edge can be seen playing a Lakland Darryl Jones Signature bass in this photo.
Black finish w/grey marble pickguard (Used for "With or Without You" during Vertigo and U2:360 tours.)
As you can see in this interview, Edge's tech, Dalas Schoo, gives detailed info on the gear used by the guitarist during the 360º tour.
In this clip of U2's first performance on Ireland's Late Late Show from 1980, we see Edge playing through what appears to be a 2103 JMP MK2 amp. I suspect it is this model because at the 32 second mark, we can see a) the black, somewhat transparent grill cloth, and b) the two handles on the top.
In this Rig Rundown feature for Premier Guitar magazine, longtime U2 guitar tech Dallas Schoo shows off Edge's 2018 touring rig, which includes an OC-3 pedal.
In this video of longtime U2 guitar tech Dallas Schoo inspecting Edge's rig for the then-upcoming Popmart tour, an Arbiter Fuzz Face pedal is visible on the foot control board at the 3:53 mark.
In this video that shows longtime U2 guitar tech Dallas Schoo inspecting Edge's Bob Bradshaw-designed rig prior to 1997's PopMart Tour, a GSP-2101 rack unit is visible at the 13-minute 11-second mark.

He used that effect in November 2009.
He plays two 330/12 strings, a red '66 and a maple '67.
In a 1980 photo, The Edge is seen using a Gibson Les Paul Deluxe.
Sold to him by Felix Manny, as mentioned by Juan Alderete in this March 20, 2019 Instagram post.
The doctor @lasynthco to the rescue on this one of maybe 50 made @ehx rack synths. I used one on Cryptonesia and wished I owned it but @infrasonicsound wouldn’t sell me it. I know @jamiestillman has one because @realkidkoala found one in Seattle and told me to buy it but my funds were tied up in another gear purchase at the time. Distortion Felix Manny introduced me to them back in the early 90’s because he sold one to @davidbowie manager for @theadrianbelew and then he had another that he sold to @u2 for The Edge. #pedalsandeffects #ehxfacts
Used on the PopMart, as specified by tech Dallas Schoo in this September 1997 Guitar World interview titled "Closer to The Edge".
One irreplaceable effect is the Edge's Korg SDD-3000 digital delay. "That's one of his favorites because it has so much warmth," says Schoo. "Most of the albums were made with that delay." Other processors in the Edge's rack include a Roland SDE-3000 digital delay and Yamaha SPX90, Kolrg A3, Rocktron Repliflex, DigiTech 2112 and Eventide H3000 multi-effectors. He also carries a full array of pedals, indluding a Dunlop Fuzz Face, Dunlop and Bradshaw multiple-wah systems, several Boss distortion units, an Electro-Harmonix Big Muff, and Lovetone's Big Cheese distortion, Doppelganger phaser and Meatball envelope follower.
Mentioned in this April/May 2007 Australian Guitar interview with The Edge's guitar tech, Dallas Schoo, on page 28 of the issue. It was used for "New York" (as stated in this January 2001 Guitar Player interview) and live for the solo on "Until the End of the World" on the Elevation Tour (as seen in AudioFile's feature "U2 - Wired for Sound"), the Vertigo Tour (as is visible in this Guitar World feature at 2:07) and the U2 360° Tour (as is visible in this still of a live performance).
Guitar Player, January 2001, "Basic Instincts"
GP: What were your main fuzzboxes?
Edge: The Ampeg, a Tube Screamer for a good general distortion without being too in-your-face, and an old Manny's Fuzz--which is really extreme. I also used this really obscure Japanese pedal called the Sobart [sic] for the heavy sections of "New York." That pedal is so extreme. You step on it and all hell breaks loose. On "When I Look at the World", I'm using an Electro-Harmonix Micro Synthesizer for that mad distorted tone.

And the Sobbat Drive Breaker with that big thumping bass distortion, where does that get used?
The Edge walked in with that. It's a Japanese device. Edge, once in a while, would want a distortion twist, you know, and he will walk in with things and I get to walk in with things. But if you walk in with things [something] and Bono hears [it, he] goes "Oh my God, roll the tape!". And that's what happened. We used that on the solo on "Until The End Of The World". It's such an offensive little box that only works on a solo at the very end - it doesn't work all through a song.

[tapping the DB-1] This came outta nowhere, this Japanese distortion thing.

U2 using Visual Sound pedals!
Fraser McAllister, guitar tech for U2, called us in March 2000, saying that Edge wanted to buy a Jekyll & Hyde and a Route 66. Apparently he had heard good things about them and wanted to give them a test drive. So we shipped off 2 pedals to Ireland and waited to hear the verdict.
A week later, Fraser called back to say that Edge liked both pedals a lot and was especially flipping over Route 66. He also said that Daniel Lanois, U2's producer, loved the Route 66 pedal and "would it be OK if we bought another one?" !! So off went another Route 66 pedal to Ireland. Rumor has it that the pedals ended up being used in several places on their Grammy Award-winning CD! Although Visual Sound does not have any official endorsers, we're honored to know that our pedals are being used by a world-class act like U2.
UPDATE: A reviewer on the Web recently posted the following: "Even the player The Edge of U2 loves his pedals! Saw one of the Visual Sound (H2O CHORUS) pedals on top of speaker-cab at the backround from The Edge when he was playing on the Elevation 2001 U2 Live from Boston DVD." I didn't know he had picked up an H2O, but I'm pleased he's using it! - Bob Weil
Visible among The Edge’s rack gear for the eXPERIENCE + iNNOCENCE Tour, as can be seen in this photo from this July 18, 2018 Premier Guitar Rig Rundown article.
From the "It Might Get Loud" documentary with Jack White, The Edge, and Jimmy Page, a scene of The Edge's home studio shows he uses the Digidesign Mbox 2 Pro FireWire Interface. He looks to have labeled two of the front input gain knobs with "MIC" and "BASS."
You can see in the video he used it on the new album in the studio.
Gibson writes in this article, "To some, Trini Lopez is just a name on two of Gibson’s coolest signature guitars. Dave Grohl, Noel Gallagher, The Edge and Andy Bell all love their Gibson Trini Lopez models."
Dallas Schoo told Music Radar about this pedal saying "Oh, they're great! We're using the Supersonic Fuzz Gun and the Harmonic Transformer. This guy, Ben Curtis - great guy - he makes these different distortion pedals and he turned us on to them."
In this article, Music Radar interviews Edge's guitar tech Dallas Schoo and details his touring rig for 2009's "360° Tour." It lists the Synth Wah among his effects.
