    Source

Other

  • Customer service is praised for responsiveness and a lifetime warranty, suggesting reliability in resolving defects.

    Source

User experience

  • Despite thorough troubleshooting with different cables, guitars, and power sources, volume inconsistencies persist, hinting at a specific unit defect.

    Source

    Source

Use cases and applications

  • Several users find the pedal's volume settings ineffective, needing maximum settings to achieve unity gain, contrary to other owners' experiences.

    Source
  • When running into a dirty amp, the Apocalypse provides an impressive volume boost, allowing it to compress more effectively, particularly when the amp is set just over the edge of breakup.

    Source
  • Serves as a creative tool for riff writing, offering potential for creating signature sounds in compositions.

Setup and maintenance

  • Adjusting the internal trim pot to its maximum position doesn't resolve volume issues, indicating a possible fault.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • Users report significant volume fluctuations, suggesting a potential faulty pot affecting sound stability and noise levels.

    Source
  • Gain x1000 mode delivers a heavily saturated, mangled sound with an almost envelope-like response to notes, which can be smoothed by reducing the guitar volume.

    Source
  • The octave fuzz setting provides a distinct upper octave sound, creating a clear clang on chords and achieving gated tones with zero gain and adjusted volume.

    Source
  • The War Fuzz mode offers a clear, articulate tone with plenty of gain, resembling a natural filtered sound, and is favored by users for its versatility.

    Source
  • It's noted for providing a dead silent background when not in use, even with the octave setting activated.

    Source
  • The tone control is highly versatile, significantly enhancing bass for a deep boom or cleaning up sound towards the treble end.

    Source

Build quality

  • The PCB design is notably unique, featuring unconventional trace patterns that add a distinctive aesthetic.

Death by Audio Apocalypse Pedal Review - Premier Guitar

premierguitar.com

The Death By Audio Apocalypse pedal is a versatile fuzz machine that's perfect for those who crave sonic mayhem. With five distinct modes ranging from mid-scooped metal to octave-up fuzz, it offers a wide palette of tones that will appeal to stoner and doom metal enthusiasts. The intuitive control layout, including a sweepable frequency equalizer, allows for deep tone shaping. Aesthetically, it's a nod to vintage synth designs, adding to its appeal. While the $270 price tag might deter some, the pedal's ability to deliver a range of rich, brutal fuzz tones makes it a worthy investment for fuzz aficionados.

Death By Audio Apocalypse Fuzz | Delicious Audio

delicious-audio.com

The Death By Audio Apocalypse fuzz pedal is a versatile beast, combining five unique fuzz circuits into one robust, all-analog package. Ideal for crafting massive, aggressive soundscapes, it's a perfect fit for shoegaze, metal, and grunge genres. The straightforward controls include a notched switch for circuit selection and a large EQ knob, easily adjusted during live performances. Its sturdy build and expansive sound palette make it a standout, though it lacks a foot-switch for on-the-fly setting changes. While not suited for classic rock tones, it shines for those seeking heavy, textured distortion.

Just awesome

Massively versatile with the 5 different types of fuzz which vary from expected heavy overdrive/distortion to mental square wave insanity. All aided by the sweepable frequency knob, which, I guess can be seen as an enhanced tone control. This can go from an aid to beefing up your signal to making you sound like God putting his collection of anvils in the tumble drier!! I absolutely love it.
