The Big Muff: Original, Mini, or Nano
Hendrix very rarely/possibly never used the big muff live and at that it was the original russian(which i reccomended) not a standard pi, he primarily used the dunlop fuzzface, do 5 seconds of research and youll see almost every video and link for hendrix tone is a dunlop
and the big muff wasnt a revolution, its not even a true fuzz its a distortion, it was a popular pedal when they began to rise in popularity, the first big muffs were in 68/69, the first fuzzes were made by radio and electronics companies in the early 60's for musicians wanting a driven dirty sound and then companies like dunlop in '66
if you want a revoutionary pedal save up a few grand and get a Klon Centaur or Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face, and buyer beware the vintage big muff and the modern one are not the same pedal vintage ones tended to have more high end from what ive read

ive love how it looks, its ugly but it pulls it off, and ive heard the neck feels like a skinny fender, but the pick ups to me are really cool since each one is two single coils side by side and not a true humbucker

so these two peaveys have always stood out to me as something i need to try, ive thought about getting one online but ive never seen one in person, i know they are heavy but how do they compare to les paul wieght and what would be some buyer bewares on these

The Big Muff: Original, Mini, or Nano
i want a russian pickle ive seen tons of youtibe vids i just havent demoed pedals in a while, but theres so many good fuzzes out there its definitly worth shoppin around what works for someone you like doesnt mean itll fit your rig

The Big Muff: Original, Mini, or Nano
its usable live but im with jim theres better real fuzzes for the money, the big muff is a respectable pedal but compared to pedals like the fuzz war, jupiter and boutique brands they out do it, also check out the fuzzrocious blast furnace

The Big Muff: Original, Mini, or Nano
only big muff id go for is a russian, personally id get the walrus audio jupiter fuzz, its imo the best value fuzz on the market

Its probably been asked before what peoples favorite finishes are but i just love seeing how everyones views on the something differ
mine are arctic/oly white on fenders, especially when its got some wear, Walnut, any hollow body and gibson looks good in brown, cherry on hollow bodies, black it looks good on anything normal or sparkle, and most fender custom colors from the 60's(except candy apple and dakota red)

i wish i lived in the uk so i could go to college and drop out in band and nit have to pay back 20-60k and the guitar music scene there is still alive and well unlike in most of the us where hip hop and electronic is the current scene

ill help you thin the heard if needed, I'm at 1 electric and 1 acoustic but later this year ill be adding a real bass and a either used les paul special, or a fender thats not a strat

I had a kid i went to school live get beat over the head with a crowbar and i can only wonder why(cough drug money cough), also about 2 blocks from my sub division/cul de sac or whatever is a really bad part of town which is where it happened

Where i live has really bad herione issues the police are using more narcan than the city can afford to save overdosers, people dont realize how real shit is for a lot of people, they all talk big about wanting to gentrify places and help people but the moment they see someone strung out they turn their nose up
Like i grew up middle class in a really poor town but i had to deal with people i knew od'ing or getting their nose broke and a cracked rib because they got drunk and wanted to run their mouth

i guess i didn't think to put basses, mia standard jazz and american elite jazz are the two nicest basses, granted ive only played like 5 basses

for sure, my local shop doesn't have the 64 the only one i saw was a 52 but i can't wait to try the 64 i just wish they still made the lake placid blue for it
edit i also want to try the older 62 reissue with the binding before they dropped it for the 64

I would say the Fano alt de facto JM6 it was perfect in every way with a buttery neck, fralin p90's and a barebones jazz master look
second is between a 66 mustang in candy apple red, i would of bought it i had 1300 bucks on me but i only had 600 with me, or the 52 avri telecaster i want to try the 64' because thats more what i want spec wise but the 52 was such a good guitar i could understand the 2000 dollar price on it

so I'm looking for a walk the moon-esque tone which seems to be soaked in reverb and delay with what i think is a pog or something along those lines and maybe a chorus. i know Eli mains strat's and tele's so i have the single coils down and amp wise he's used a lot of different ones from vox to marshall etc.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3p5M6vYzwMQ
i didn't realize how good a live tone they had and its similar enough to mine i want to try to get close with out ripping his tone off completely

Im looking at upgrading from a one spot, i was wondering what a good pedalboard power supply would be for running a 6-10 pedal pedalboard, i know a lot of people use voodoo but I'm just curious about other alternatives, not in price I'm fine dishing 300 for a power supply if i feel like it
edit: I'm looking at the voodoo lab 2 plus, i like the idea of the sag feature and being 8 spots with ability to power an 18v if I'm using one is another nice feature

would you say the arbiters are better quality then the vsel's then

thats hilarious you should make an origins story and sell it to marvel

We use them at my church and we always say direct in so i just assumed it meant direct input but now that you said that thats what will pop into my mind whenever dealing with them, hot meat injection????
9yabout 9 years ago
Ive been living a lie i always thought di meant direct input not direct injection
9yabout 9 years ago
I saw a 67 for 2300 but i didnt look into the specs because it almost was 3 times by budget
9yabout 9 years ago
Direct in means he had a direct input for his guitar into his computer and any decent music production app will do it but if you want a good sound for making covers youll want to run a direct in, or mic the amp and run it into a direct in, im not the best source fir this but thats the two ways most people do it, Jim and the other regulars will be able to answer this better

Whenever i go to the local shop the owner talks about back in the day he could get an ac30 piss cheap and now your lucky to find a vintage ac30 under 2 grand

my curiosity is definitely peaked i think i know where my next amp after the deluxe reverb is going

i played a 50 watt custom and that thing was a haus, i couldn't imagine being in front of it without in ear monitors i have no clue how townshend did it. i couldnt crank it i was afraid of being to loud and everyone hearing me mess up and blowing an eardrum
9yabout 9 years ago
ill definitely look for an 800 with the master sounds like a beast of an amp. another one I've looked into jtm45 plexi's being they show up everywhere. but also have you had any experience with the Evertune bridges, the guys from rise against use them and even tho they are technically too big for sg's but they said it solves all the tuning issues with them

i feel this tim mcilrath quote is relevant when it comes to guitar shopping lol

if you can't feel the air moving is it really live tho????? but those things can cause tornadoes with how much air the move. they definitely have to be behind/under the stage or else someones gonna get their insides turned to mush

id be running it dirty as f*ck with some compression but id probably shop around with different marshal heads before settling I haven't looked into marshall much other than the bluesbreaker, just not what I'm in the market for at the moment

i know i love them, i demoed a Fano JM6 through one at CME, the headroom is insanely good and they can wail but they are too loud for most small-midsize club venues. they handled pedals better than fenders
9yabout 9 years ago
i dont mention it much but the band that got me into music is Rise Against, and I've made it my goal to get a JCM900, outside of indie i play a lot of melodic hardcore and punk
