Review - Electro Harmonix 6CA7-EH - thetubestore Blog

thetubestore.com

The Electro-Harmonix 6CA7-EH tubes are celebrated for filling the void left by the discontinued EI 6CA7, excelling particularly in Hiwatt guitar amplifiers with a robust, classic rock tone reminiscent of The Who. These tubes provide substantial headroom, allowing for clean tones and powerful crunch at high volumes. While they aren't suited for early Van Halen tones, they shine in loud, dynamic settings. Constructed to minimize noise issues, they are reliable and sturdy. However, some audiophiles find them lacking in midrange detail and top-end sparkle, suggesting they might not be ideal for all hi-fi setups. Overall, for guitarists seeking a hearty, classic rock sound, these tubes are a strong choice.

Great tube! The EL34 but with more bottom.

This is the EL34 designed for the American market. It's a great mix between the EL34 and the 6L6.
