Critic Reviews

Arturia V Collection 9

soundonsound.com

Arturia's V Collection 9 takes the already impressive software suite to new heights with updated classics and intriguing new instruments. The enhancements to the CS-80 V and Prophet-5 V are particularly noteworthy, breathing fresh life into these beloved synths. However, some bugs and the potential for screen clutter may challenge users. The addition of the MS-20 V and SQ-80 V provides unexpected gems, though programming them can be a bit daunting. Overall, this collection is a treasure trove for sound designers and musicians, delivering exceptional value for a vast array of high-quality instruments.

Arturia V Collection 9 review | MusicRadar

musicradar.com

Arturia V Collection 9 offers a mix of nostalgia and modernity, featuring fresh emulations like the MS-20 and SQ-80 alongside new Augmented plugins. While the revived classics sound impressive, the necessity of yet another MS-20 is questionable. The Augmented instruments provide unique textures but might not satisfy purists seeking realism. Overall, the collection is appealing upon closer inspection, with solid updates and engaging tools, though it may not be a must-have for everyone.

Arturia V Collection 9 review: With this in your arsenal, it’s hard to imagine needing much else

musictech.com

Arturia's V Collection 9 is a powerhouse of sonic possibilities, boasting an astonishingly wide range of instruments and impressively faithful emulations. The new additions, including the Korg MS-20 and Ensoniq SQ80, elevate the collection further, showcasing Arturia's knack for blending vintage charm with modern functionality. However, this rich tapestry of sounds comes with a significant CPU load, which could frustrate users with less robust setups. While the collection is a treasure trove for sound designers and musicians, the hardware demands might deter some. Overall, it's hard to overlook the brilliance on offer, even if it comes with caveats.

Arturia V Collection 9 continues to elevate the standard for virtual instruments with four fresh additions and a host of improvements to beloved classics. The SQ80 V impresses with its nostalgic lo-fi charm and user-friendly interface, while the KORG MS-20 V brings aggressive sounds with modern polyphonic capabilities. However, the upgrade pricing has sparked discontent among loyal users, who feel the cost is steep for limited new content. Still, for those seeking a rich palette of synth sounds, this collection is a remarkable choice that blends nostalgia with innovation.
