CADLIVE D82 Moving Ribbon Mic: Affordable Passive Transducer for Live Sound

mixonline.com

The CADLive D82 delivers a surprisingly robust sound for a ribbon mic, bringing studio quality to the stage at a wallet-friendly price. Its durable design allows for high SPL handling, making it a viable option for live performances. However, it struggles with bass-heavy tones and proximity effect, often requiring careful mic placement to achieve a balanced sound. The lack of a shock mount is also a downside. Despite these quirks, the D82 shines in its ability to capture detail without harshness, proving its worth in both studio and live settings. Overall, this mic is an exciting addition for those willing to experiment with placement to harness its full potential.

Review: CAD Live Microphone Series

mixonline.com

CAD's D82 ribbon microphone is a live sound gem, delivering a "silky" tone that enhances guitar and saxophone tracks without breaking the bank. Priced at $159, the D82 offers solid construction and impressive sound quality, making it a reliable choice for any gig. While the larger diaphragm models in the series are commendable, the review suggests that smaller mics may be easier to position in live settings. Despite a preference for discreet models, the D82 stands out as an exceptional entry point for those new to ribbon mics. Overall, it’s hard to beat the value and performance of this versatile microphone.

Excellent ribbon mic for guitar amps

It's a great quality ribbon mic for recording guitar amps. It imparts nice warmth to the sound of my guitar amp. Due to its shape it's really easy to place it before guitar amps. It's pretty affordable too
