Description
Thick and rich, the dual ribbon "rounds out" guitar stacks, brass, and woodwinds. A narrow strip of ultra thin aluminum suspended in a magnetic field oscillates symbiotically with your sound source. Electrical current is the result. We use two ribbons for added sensitivity. Experience classic ribbon vocal sound. Elastic shock mount and metal travel case are included.

In the YouTube video titled "Joe Satriani Trion 7000 Promo," Joe Satriani discusses his use of the CAD Trion 7000 Ribbon Microphone. He praises its ability to make his guitar sound "huge" and describes its full-bodied, warm sound as ideal for both live performances and studio recordings. Satriani highlights the microphone’s dual ribbon element, which enhances sensitivity, and appreciates its rich, smooth tone with a pronounced proximity effect, making it versatile for vocals, guitar, bass, piano, brass, woodwinds, and acoustic bass. The microphone also comes with an elastic shock mount and a metal travel case, adding to its appeal.
"After extensive A/B testing, CAD Microphones were chosen by Production Manager Maceo Price for several key functions on Lil’ Wayne’s sold-out 2009 I AM MUSIC Tour.
(...) On the warmer side of the spectrum, Price opted for CAD Trion 7000 ribbon mics on the bass and guitar amps. Prerecorded string parts were recorded right off the bow of the cello with the 7000, put in ProTools and blended together for a thicker sound.
Asked about the tonal quality Price looks for with the Trion 7000, he confirms that 'The ribbon mic is really warm, and because of its rejection, you can isolate it and get every nuance out of the microphone. 'CAD mics are nice and sensitive,' he continues. 'I have a lot of hi hat coming into my snare because of the way the kit is set up with the two snares surrounding the hi hat. So you’ve got to play with the gates a bit to make sure there’s no bleed through. But when you need it, it’s there.'"
The CAD Trion 7000 ribbon Microphone was used by Luke Weiler of Positive Mental Trip along with the CAD D189 to mic the 1/2 stack (crate blue Voodoo head into a Marshall cabinet) for all electric guitar parts on “Pure”. The 2 CAD mics were sold for some time by CAD as the “Joe Satriani Amp Mic Kit”. Luke planned to use this mic kit live and in the studio. However the CAD Trion 7000 was used more blended with the Sterling ST77 for studio vocal tracks. The CAD D189 became luke’s Choice for live vocals during the PMT touring 2008-2009 era. It is said the CAD TRION 7000 although not used on “the black and white album”(2017), will appear as one of the mics blended on vocals and will also combine with a Shure Beta 57 A to record amp sounds this year. Positive Mental Trip has been slowly but surely tracking for the “Love Never Dies”(studio album, there were a few demos with the album title circa 2007-2010) since 2018 and continues tracking in 2019. The album is said to be finished and released in 2019.
