Owner Insights

We analyzed real musician discussions from forums and Reddit to find what players love, question, and tweak about Casio CT-670.

Software and compatibility

  • Cheap MIDI interfaces often lack necessary components, leading to issues with inconsistent MIDI signals, especially with older keyboards like the Casio CT-670.

    Source
  • Owners recommend using reputable MIDI interfaces from brands like Roland or M-Audio to avoid connectivity problems with the CT-670.

    Source

User experience

  • Switching to a higher-quality MIDI interface resolved erratic MIDI signal issues, confirming that the initial problem was not with the keyboard itself.

    Source
  • Owners appreciate the CT-670 for its unique lo-fi sound, particularly the detune and quirky delay effects, which are described as charmingly imperfect.

    Source
  • Owners appreciate the CT-670 as a MIDI controller, highlighting its versatility despite its age.

    Source

Features and functionality

  • The CT-670 features a "tone editor" synthesizer section, allowing users to edit detune, delay, attack/decay, and release parameters for sound customization.

    Source
  • Despite having 32-note polyphony, only 12 notes can be played on the keyboard due to voice allocation for auto-accompaniment features like rhythm and harmony.

    Source
  • The CT-670's auto power-off engages after 6 minutes of inactivity; no known hack exists to disable it entirely.

    Source
  • Running the drum machine with the volume down or having MIDI input connected can prevent auto power-off.

    Source

Comparisons

  • The CT-670 is considered one of the nicer models in its series, alongside the MT-750, CT-680, and the rare CT-X1, which offers superior effects.

    Source

Build quality

  • The CT-670 is noted for its overly large casing, filled with empty space and non-functional plastic components, characteristic of Casio’s design approach at the time.
