EVL-X4 Review: The EMG hz pickups are the cheapest one in EMG so... | Cort | Electric Guitars | Reviews @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com

ultimate-guitar.com

The Cort EVL X4 is an affordable entry into the realm of metal guitars, but its performance is marred by significant drawbacks. While the EMG HZ pickups offer decent versatility for metal and other genres, they fall short of delivering premium sound quality. The guitar's construction is solid, featuring a mahogany body and a decent finish, yet the tremolo system is a major weak point, notorious for causing tuning instability. This instrument might serve beginners or budget-conscious players, but its limitations make it a less appealing choice for those seeking reliable quality. Overall, the Cort EVL X4 is a mixed bag—promising on paper but disappointing in execution.

Cort Evl X4 Review

guitarmasterclass.net

The Cort EVL X4 guitar impresses with its metal aesthetics and versatile sound options, thanks to its mahogany wood and HSH EMG-HZ pickups. Its ability to shift between humbucker and single-coil tones via a push-pull button makes it adaptable for genres from metal to blues. However, the Floyd Rose copy bridge initially struggles with tuning stability, though easily rectified by adjustment. Despite this minor setback, the guitar is lauded for its playability and value, particularly appealing to metal enthusiasts seeking an affordable and stylish instrument. Overall, it's a standout choice for beginners and intermediate players alike, with a user rating of 9.5/10.

EVL-X4 Review: The first impression of this guitar is "I Was Made For... | Cort | Electric Guitars | Reviews @ Ultimate-Guitar.Com

ultimate-guitar.com

The Cort EVL X4 is a mid-range guitar that excels in metal but offers some versatility with its nine pickup options. Its growling tone is noted, especially when paired with a quality amp, but lacks the grunt of active EMGs. While reliable, the Floyd Rose bridge suggests a backup for gigs. The build quality is solid with a satin black finish, though it's noted as second-hand with minor dings. Overall, it's a good buy for the price, but potential buyers might seek alternatives if pricing is a concern.

Good semi-pro guitar

Fair price (~300$) yet capable guitar. At that price, it is even shipped with HSH EMGs (H4 S3 H4). Even if it doesn't have an official Floyd Rose, it doesn't quickly go out of tune unlike other licensed FR.
